Horrible salon. If I could give zero stars I would. First off- I had already read some of the previous negative reviews of this salon and decided to still give them the benefit of the doubt…my mistake! I had washed and conditioned my hair before even stepping foot into the salon- because I have had bad experiences with washers being way too rough and inconsiderate to my hair at Dominican Hair Salons. I walked in and told the hair stylist I did not need a wash. She told me to go sit down in the chair, and I did. She came over and started to touch my hair and ask me if I wanted a blowout or a flatiron?- I then asked her what would be the price of each? She began to fumble with her words and say well it’s going to be $40, and I was shocked! I pay $45 for a wash, dry and blowout at other salons…$50 max with all these services. She said because I have “natural” hair I will have to be charged more. I questioned why such an up-charge and she proceeded to fumble with her words and say because “natural hair”….after this I decided I no longer wanted this salons services or for this woman to be touching my hair. So I told her directly I changed my mind and left the salon. Even with just a few moments of her brushing through my hair it was made known that the hair stylist was not going to give my hair the care and consideration it deserves. Not to mention the disrespect in her tone and in her face when referring to my hair- as if having “natural” hair is a bad thing. I am extremely tired of Dominican salons disrespecting natural, beautiful curls!!! Please save yourself the time and money and do not support...
Read moreI visited this salon on 3/15/24. An older Dominican woman took me right away. She wet my hair and then proceeded to rip it from the roots. I had to stop 🛑 her.. Then once she began putting my rollers in she was so rough I honestly felt like slapping her. I stopped her again. She set me under the dryer for over an hour while she washed and roller set everyone in the shop. Then she took me. The entire time all of the other stylist were doing absolutely NOTHING!!! They were eating ice cream, texting… one lady was talking to a man for 1 hour. This hair salon is GHETTO and I don’t believe the stylists have hair licenses because everyone knows you comb wet hair from the bottom up not the roots down. I paid and left and I didn’t leave a tip because they suck!! They’re completely inefficient and they lack customer service. I would never go back!!Also, all of the stylists hair, looked burnt out and a mess. I have super long hair. I felt like the old lady was a hater. The owner should FIRE every stylist and hire staff who care about her business. If they have one person shampooing, the other stylists should be styling nor sitting around doing nothing. These ppl...
Read moreI didn't have an appointment. I went in for only a dry cut. This is what I asked for. When I sat in the chair, she told me that the reason my hair is so thin is that I have highlighted it (thanks for the review but I didn't ask why my hair is thin). My hair is thin because it's always been thin. I feel like the number one rule of hairdressing should be "don't insult your customers". Then she asks me if I usually blow dry my hair. I answered that I use a round brush to blow it dry. She proceeds to blow dry my already dry hair--pulling it straighter. Then she takes out a curling iron and curls it. This is all without a wash which I didn't want. When I got up to the counter, she asks another lady in Spanish "how much?". The lady said said in Spanish "$30". Then she revises it and says "$40".
They charged me $40 for a cut. They will up the price regardless of what you get. I speak Spanish and they will talk around you thinking you don't understand.
I liked the cut alright, but I will NEVER go...
