They seem to be very uninterested in having me as a patient. I tried to make an appointment to discuss pregnancy care with the midwives, but was told they don't do that unless you're already pregnant. So I asked to get an annual womens' wellness appointment with them, which apparently they don't do either, so I have to see a gynecologist. I asked them to schedule an appointment with my PCP, who works in this office and typically handles my annual visits, and was told that I was now considered a "new patient" because I haven't had a visit in over 3 years (to be clear, in that 3 year period we were on lockdown for a global pandemic, and I had two babies so was under the care of an OB...so I was told not to come back until after I was out of my OB's care), and that my PCP was not taking new patients at this time. Like, WHAT?! Dumping me off the panel without any notice?! Now I'm floating out here with no GYN, no PCP, and no options - and the scheduler could not have cared less about helping me find a solution. Never going back to VCU for any reason if I...
Read moreAvoid, Avoid, Avoid this place, go to a vet instead. Doctors and nurses here are amazing, the billing dept is a nightmare. One visit will be in network the next one will not be. Then this appointment you will be listed as having insurance the next one they will say you don't and then two years later you will get 10 checks in the mail from where they over charged you
They will also push you to move all your health care to VCU, it is really a hard sale.
It is a paperwork nightmare, over charged but they will get back to you...sometime. This is in the cancer dept. because, because I guess Cancer is not enough to deal with.
They say use the my chart to send messages to your team, which works if anyone actually answered those messages. Still waiting to hear back from a message I sent them in NOV 2024.
TLDR: Doctors and nurses are great, Billing is a total mess. My chart is useless, unless they want money...
Read moreVCU Health has been consistently disappointing. While I've had positive experiences with the doctors and nurses, and I appreciate their hard work, I've repeatedly encountered issues with their billing department and patient cost estimates. They have sent me invoices for charges that were already covered by my insurance and insisted on payment. Additionally, they have often billed the wrong insurance and then claimed I was not covered. On one occasion, they provided an estimate before a procedure, but afterwards, I received a bill that was more than 300% higher. It seems like I am consistently dealing with unprofessional and untrained staff. I am shocked by this experience and I am looking for a new provider. I would not recommend VCU Health to anyone, as you will be given inaccurate information and misled multiple times. Its...
