My grandmother and I went here looking for a nice dining room table that would inevitably become a heirloom of mine and we found not only a beautiful sturdy antique table in mint condition with six matching chairs, but also a very nice dresser and a display cabinet that I intend to use as a miniature china cabinet for the time being which can be easily used for so many different things! We also found a beautiful set of Haviland china there that too was in mint condition! A lot of reviews I have seen state that this place is overpriced-i do not see it as being overpriced! My grandmother has been shopping here for years and we both found that these items we found were in excellent and sturdy condition but much more reasonably priced than other antique stores anywhere in the near vicinity! We literally paid a tenth of what the China cost if purchased used and in not as good of condition as online retailers! Total we spent less on everything than what it would have costs just for the China! The people that work there are also very helpful and do not mind calling their vendors to try and get them to work with you on...
Read moreThe lady who works behind the desk on the weekend must not want to help move her vendors items. Terse and not willing to contact her vendors to inquire if they would consider a lower price. Prices are firm. A bit of a hassle. They must really want to get every penny out of what their vendors are selling.
We ended up going back due to a deal on a one of a kind piece of furniture. She's all kind of nice once you pay her price. However, check out Pette's Antiques further up on 51. A bit more pricey, but Pette, the lady who runs it, is quite helpful, their pieces are quality antiques (not splitting, poorly refinished, or chipped as in many pieces at Antique Mall of the South). You can also find other quality items at Bloomingdeals, Palladian Consign and Design, Repeat Street, and the Flea Market on...
Read moreWell one person's version of antiques are another's late 20th century over priced yard sale accoutrements. I found nothing there worth the listed price and a lot of it was literal throw away items people of the south think are worth real money. It was a nice clean store with somewhat nice staff but it looked like a roadside stand inside with stuff helped upon each other. I don't know what you pay in rent there for a old storage building but don't take it out on your customers. Just because it's old doesn't make it...
