601 Fish & Wings Express LLC — Restaurant in Ridgeland

I stumbled upon this delightful hole-in-the-wall restaurant while searching for something to eat on the way home, and I’m so glad we decided to give it a try. As soon as we walked in, the lady at the desk warmly greeted us and said, "Oh, it’s your first time? You will be back." And she was right—we absolutely will be back! Everything we tried was incredibly tasty, and to our surprise, it was just as good the second time around when we reheated it in the toaster oven.

It's important to note that this place is strictly for pickup, so there are no tables to sit at and enjoy your meal on-site. However, they do have a few seats available for waiting while your food is being prepared. Keep in mind that there are no public restrooms available, so plan accordingly.

The entrance to the restaurant is off of School Street, and it has a very steep incline. Parking can be quite tight, but trust me, the minor inconvenience is well worth it. The quality and flavor of the food more than make up for any parking challenges or lack of dining space. This hidden gem has definitely earned a spot on our list...

I’m not a stickler about food prices especially from Black owned businesses and genuinely thought nothing of my $50 order, until I realized the quality of food and the price here don’t match. I can’t tell you the last time I’ve been to a restaurant that serves iceberg lettuce in their salads. The lettuce could have been at least chopped a bit. On the bright side the Thousand Island dressing was good. The catfish on the other hand was definitely fresh water catfish (if ya know ya know). It’s much cheaper than higher quality catfish filets so a 3 piece dinner at $20 isn’t making sense to me. Especially being served with the slime left on the back & middle of the filet. The fish also lacked seasoning and judging by the taste and pigment of breading, the grease was old. On the bright side, wings were good and nicely sized and the older lady who was bringing the food from the back had a very sweet disposition which was warming. Nevertheless, I only came here because of the great reviews so maybe they had...

YESSSS FINALLY found a restaurant with real catfish 👏🏽👏🏽 My plate was $15 I had the two piece catfish 10/10 Both Definitely was a good size fillet my sides I had was fried okra 10/10… French fries 7/10 They was good just a tad dark for my preference && could’ve used more salt or some seasoning would’ve been nice.. I picked a cold Coke yess very refreshing they did offer tea but eww only a maniac drinks tea but anyway over all I just got off from a 12 hr shift && I’m eating the rest of my plate && it still hits! Definitely going back to try that pork chop sandwich. The customer service was good those young ladies were friendly and very kept.. Was told my food would be ready in 15min it was ready in about 18 I wasnt tripping because they do cook everything fresh as it says on the front door…...
