Our experience was met with the expectation that we all anticipated with the adult bar which puts them ahead of all the other ones … it was clean and the only downfall which turned my experience into a negative one was this older security personnel, lighter skin, with light, small freckles appearing to be bald but wearing an all black ball cap that said Police in white, plain lettering threw me and later found out my husband previously. His whole interaction, the encounter was doing too much and I didn’t appreciate him suggesting and leading that I wasn’t telling the truth after I already was in the theater and came out for beverage orders and more snacks. He asked me if I paid to get in (mind you both hands full and no place to set anything down) he came from behind the counter getting some snack for himself and he was an older black male in his 60’s, I answered him and said yes I paid and the younger security guy seen my tickets, do you really think I would sneak in with all this in my hand heading to my seat? Then he said where’s your ticket? I said in my pocket (but actually that was my food and beverage receipt and my ticket was with my family) and I had no way of getting to it since he was holding me up then implied saying, “You don’t have to get irate.” I quickly realized what he was doing and I questioned him with logic and facts and then he backed off and said, “Well I didn’t see you.” I responded calmly reinstating that the younger security personnel seen me and checked my tickets. I went in and felt the need to get my ticket, that older guy was giving the “jump off itches” and I informed my husband what took place not even knowing the same guy approached my husband and had a similar experience but the guy actually implied my husband wasn’t telling the truth. Now when my husband went out to address the situation I quickly grabbed my ticket and hustled out there not because of my husband but the other guy, he had vibes of looking for something wrong when there wasn’t. By that time the younger security personnel was there again and he asked what was going on as my husband was showing proof from his phone the electronic purchase and I had the tickets in hand, the older guy tried to say it was all good and everything was fine while my husband was in the midst of explaining what happened, it was like the older guy didn’t want us saying anything. I spoke up and said to the younger guy, “ Sir, you were the one who looked at my tickets and directed me where to go and also where the bathroom was.” He looked a little confused (mind you there were not a lot of people there period) then it was like an invisible wand of remembrance hit him over his head and he regained our previous interaction. I think we’ll just stick with Renaissance, their candies and popcorn are not the freshest but by far our experience is always a positive one. Honestly and I agree with my husband it’s like some black people just can’t be professional and courteous when it comes to other black people especially when they are in positions to allow or deny you access whether it’s to buy items from a store or a place of entertainment like the movies. Really set the remaining night with a bit of...
Read moreI usually have a good or great experience at this theater. Today was different. An inexperienced, unguided, and unaccountable girl with auburn hair (yes, she is black but that’s not the issue. Just giving some background. I am black myself so I don’t wanna hear anything about me mentioning her race. I did it so YOU can potentially avoid her service. Otherwise your experience may be something like mine.) was supposed to play the movie my theater section had paid for. Not only did she (and the entire team) fail to start the movie at its designated time, 7:00pm (the movie started 25 minutes later AFTER I said something about it), the person played the wrong movie. Not only in my theater section, but in other sections too. She was too busy running her mouth to the security guard to pay attention to what she was doing, and more than likely, she didn’t even want to be at work today. When I asked for the manager, all of a sudden, here she is standing beside the manager while she’s tending to the issue saying, “It’s not that big of deal.” I wasn’t fussing. I wasn’t cussing. However, I was upset about what had happened. The best she could’ve done was own up to her mistake. Keep in mind, these tickets are NOT free and the movies will charge you an arm and a leg. Now, I have no issue for paying for entertainment, but at the very least, you could value your customers by providing them what they paid for. I couldn’t even get that. The manager was adequate in handling the situation, and for that, I am happy. That being said, it’s hard to watch a movie when there have been many disturbances. Oh, did I mention that the rest of the theater came out to question the movie situation as well? Here I am watching Sound of Freedom when I didn’t want to see it nor paid for that movie. We usually come in the day before 3:00pm. The manager named Patricia is who I usually encounter when I came to this particular theater. She’s so sweet and kind. She is ALWAYS on her Ps and Qs. I just wish the same could be said for the night crew. This was the first and last time I will be coming to this theater pass 3:00pm. Clearly, a blessing for me (because now I can consistently experience quality service) and for the night crew (since they now have one less customer to deal with). I would still highly, HIGHLY recommend B & B Theaters at Northpark Mall, but only before 3:00pm. Not to mention, tickets are higher...
Read moreYou can measure the time since my last visit to the Northpark theater in decades. After tonight, it will likely be decades before I return.
I had seen an advertisement for a viewing format that I was not familiar with, ScreenX, and was excited to give it a try. I purchased tickets to a showing of Maverick tonight that had the ScreenX logo conspicuously displayed among the options presumably applicable to that showing. Needless to say, it was not a ScreenX showing. The premium cost of the ticket was presumably for being on a "Grand Screen". The showing in my opinion did not warrant the premium ticket price which exceeds the Malco IMAX price by $2 (+13%) and the Cinemark XD price by $6 (+47%).
Even had the advertisement matched the tickets sold, the overall experience left much to be desired. Typically when I purchase movie tickets online, there is a way to avoid the box office proper. I had hoped the same in this case. No instructions were sent with my email, and I did not note any signage on site. When I asked inside, I was told I did indeed need to go through the box office. I will point out that I was not happy that I needed to hand over my phone in order to get my tickets.
Once inside, one of our seats was broken, stuck in the feet extended position. Based on behavior of some other patrons, there seem to have been issues with other seats as well. When I asked about this I was told I could find another seat or ask to be given a different seat. When I went to the box office, to do this, there was no one actually present.
Throughout the movie, red light from the ceiling illuminated the top half of the movie in a waxing and waning fashion. I cannot fathom why this is done.
Given that it is prominently mentioned on the website, I assume there are quite a few people for which heated seats are a draw. For me, I haven't been in a movie theater in many years where I did not feel notably warm. It's a shame that I remember when movie theaters were actually chilly. Unfortunately for me, I accidentally bumped the heating button at some point. I can verify that the seats do heat up quite well.
As others have mentioned, it did seem notably clean throughout. The overall look of the facility is quite nice. I see others have had a better experience and hope that I am...
