It’s not all games and fun, it’s SO MUCH MORE! I’ve hung out here many times. This time I happened to catch a local performance of Uproar Theatre’s The Tipsy Bard: Shakespear’s The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Whilst I watched this modern version of a classic set in New Orleans, I got to drinkith and eateth. I know what tire thinking, quite with the Shakespearean speak.
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
Environment: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) The new patio is awesome and comfy. The fans really help even when it’s warm outside and it started pretty dry even with some rain.
Inside they have amazing custom decor based around games from a local game design studio, Certifiable. They have games available to play or you can bring your own.
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) Can I give them a 10? The entire team was friendly and attentive.
Technology: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) They used a new process (Toast QR Codes) for tables outside to order during the show. While the app itself has a few bugs, it didn’t take away from my ability to order and the staff seamlessly worked with it to deliver orders to tables during the play. For a 1st time use I was impressed do added this category rating.
Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) While I enjoyed everything I ordered, AND it’s good, it’s not worth the price tier. However when you combine it with all of the other aspects like environment and service, it becomes a bit more justifiable.
Pictured: Brii Town Burger (whole and 1/2 cut) - caramelized onions, American/Swiss cheese blend melted on a burger between two slices of crack wheat toast. It was perfectly cooked (they cook all burgers med-well).
Hungry Hero App - Country pleasin sausage, sweet heat pickles, garlic toast, pimento cheese. So yummy and that pimento cheese is addictive and goes with everything.
The White Flag - Smoked brisket, mushrooms and Swiss (also usually comes with caramelized onions but my friend had them left off), on Gambino’s Italian Poboy with side of au jus.
Butter Beer - tickle your muggle taste buds with this delightful magical drink. One of my faves.
Isle of Shrimp - a quesadilla with Monterey/cheddar blend, green bell peppers and onions with a side of chipotle bacon ranch.
Ravenclaw - a blueberry cocktail enjoyed while...
Read moreFantastic service, like actually exceptional. The girl who served us last night had been there for two days and you would never know, she was attentive, fun, and really efficient. We had the Redshirt and the Bayou Dragon pizza. Both were excellent, and honestly...surprisingly (because we had never been there before and didn't really know what to expect) amazing. I can say in all honesty I may have actually liked their pizza more than Basil's, and I love Basil's. Obviously Jackson isn't New York, and pizza around here has its own thing going on...but this place's was just outright impressive (that alligator sausage was lit). The pretzel bites were fast to the table and a good starter if you just need something to hold you 'til your food arrives. On the cocktail front we tried the Benny Harris, the Dr. Copper, the Slayer, and the Sugar Pony. They were all quite good depending on your tastes. My favorites were the Dr. Copper and the Slayer. My friend's was probably the Dr. Copper and the Sugar Pony. This isn't to say the Benny Harris wasn't great and I wouldn't order it again, but when picking favorites the clear winner was the Dr. Copper (the side shot of liqueur makes the whole thing)... it was....yeah just try it.
The atmosphere is fun and well put together with quality game art on the walls. Vintage video games and an wildly large selection of board games round out what is a totally unique place for our area. I am not from here, and as someone who has lived many other places, living in the Jackson metro can be often limiting and disappointing. This place feels like somewhere cool from a much larger city, it almost doesn't belong here...but yet it does.
I write this long of a review to say, this place is over 9000% worth checking out. Truly a stellar...
Read moreThis is a great place in Ridgeland. Tonight was our first time there, although my 12 year old son went for the first time yesterday with his mom so we went on his suggestion. This is a really cool concept based around video gaming, good food, and great drinks. The word Tavern is a little misleading if you, like myself, think of a bar when you hear it. But this is alot more than a bar, although they do have a great drink menu with tons of good choices. It is a very family friendly place. Board games galore you could take to your table to play as well as tables with a NES or SNES. The decor is well put together and goes very well with the concept. The menu piece itself ties in with the decor and the artwork on the menu backgrounds goes very well together. If, like me, you wonder where the name came from, you'll find a nice informative page after the menu that tells the story of how it came about. The food was good too. My boys both had pizzas which they both loved. I had a a nice adult grilled cheese with a hefty serving of 3 cheeses and pulled pork added for that little change-up. The bar area was set up nicely as well. It's set up more like a small old day tavern which I thought was a cool touch. Sam, our waitress, was awesome! She was very attentive to our table, as well as the other tables there. She was super sweet and had a great personality. Rick was great to speak with as well. He was interacting with everyone and stopped by to see how our visit was going. It really was a great visit and we all 3 had a great time. We'll definitely be coming back. You have got to go by and check...
