My experience here today was beyond demeaning. I felt as if the two staffers at the counter (I believe the owners) were aggravated at the fact I was spending MY money at this establishment. When I asked a question about string for my daughter's hair, the look on one of the owner's face was one that seemed terribly annoyed and bothered, especially when I continued to ask questions about the product. I also feel as if I was followed and profiled. One of the two owners seem to find their way down my aisle more than three times as I was making up my mind to purchase an item. Also, when I looked to see if they were watching, low and behold, one of them was.
Cedar Beauty Supply, or the two owners, also seem to be terribly anti children. It was fine when they told my daughter to not smell the products, but I was not happy to hear, on the PA System, the male store owner announcing, "No running in the store!" (was an announcement really necessary?!). Soon after my daughter's scolding, I myself felt uncomfortable with smelling contents of jars, which is utterly ridiculous if there are plans to place the contents of said jar on one's head!
Unfortunately, this does not seem like a staffing issue. It seems as if there is more to this story, and the owners have experienced a number of negative experiences, however, I should not walk into a store and feel as if I was personally responsible for the infractions of others. Therefore, I do not think a REPLY stating staffing issues will be handled will work in this case... they won't, especially if you are the owner(s). I have actually gone to this store before and have never felt so disgusted after making a purchase.
I was also baffled to see other African-American women treated similarly, without complaint, almost as if it was an expectation. Yet, this is moreso my fault, for propitiating an establishment that is not Black owned. I will have to make other plans for my hair care needs, because Cedar Beauty Supply will not be allowed to full them, and receive my money while doing so. I will, and cannot grace this store with my presence, nor will I spend my hard-earned money to feel as if a proprietor is not appreciative of my business. Kick rocks Cedar Beauty...
Read moreWe had a great experience at the MacDade Blvd location. Never been there before, read some negative reviews, but a good friend highly recommended Cedar Beauty Supply, when I inquired about buying good quality, inexpensive hair extensions. Mika waited on us and she gave us an extensive tour of the shop. She gave us information about all the services they provide and she color matched my daughters hair with the best extentions for her hair. She even gave us tips on how to bring the price down more, by simply buying our own clips, instead of purchasing the extionsions that came with them already sewed in. You did an incredible...
