This store uses an extensive amount of scented products to clean their store. For someone who is allergic to heavy chemical scents, this causes extreme discomfort. I had a most difficult time staying in the store long enough to actually find what I needed. I probably would have spent longer to actually find an alternative to what I bought, but my difficulties breathing persuaded me that this was not the time to be picky! I took the easy way out and just bought a couple of toggle bolts to fix an issue with a towel rack and left as quickly as I could. I tried to politely advise the lady at the cash register that heavily scented cleaning products cause difficulties for some people. She seemed to be very defensive and stated she needed to keep her store clean. I tried to explain that I absolutely commend her on keeping a clean store but that cleanliness doesn't have anything to do with perfumes. She did not seem to believe that something could be clean without the stench of heavy perfumes. She said, "Well, I use a scented body wash". I told her I did not use a scented one and yet still get clean with an unscented one. She seemed quite offended at my statement so I apologized for having offended her and promptly left. Unfortunately, due to advertising propaganda, there seems to be a section of society that has become convinced that heavily scented perfumes that are so strong as to become a horrible stench are equated with cleanliness. However, proper cleanliness doesn't have anything to do with heavy perfumes. Using heavy perfumes began in the Renaissance Period when people were trying to cover up the smell of their UNWASHED bodies because they didn't bathe! Now so many people are victims of an industry that has convinced them that things are only clean if they stink to high heaven with petroleum based synthetic pheromones. She's obviously fallen for this propaganda hook, line and sinker. She has a nice store and the gentleman who helped me understood what I needed and was very helpful. Unfortunately, I will need to go to a different store to get my needs met as hers is extremely unhealthy for me. 12.18.23: I just would like to add that the store owner did reach out to me regarding my review. She was very understanding, polite and respectful. I greatly appreciate her feedback and understanding. She also advised that they would try to remove the scented items in an effort to accommodate people they bother. She was...
Read moreI love this store and everything it has to offer. Unfortunately there's an employee there named Tanya that acts as if my presence was offensive every time that I end up having her as a cashier. She's not rude but extremely discourteous, she honestly makes me feel like I am the most unwelcome person in the entire store. For some reason anytime that I come in to get help at that store she will just stand there and stare at me without saying anything other than just trying to take my money and get me to leave. Any other person that comes in there she will giggle and hehe and strike up conversation and be cordial but for some reason she treats me like I'm the biggest waste of her time. I honestly doubt it has anything to do with me personally but for some reason it seems to be something that I can depend on to get from her. Jennifer on the other hand is extremely compassionate and makes me really appreciate the family-owned quality of this Pioneer Ace Hardware. I'm sure the pandemic has everybody down but there has to be some give and take. As a former Customer Service Rep and Manager of nearly 15 years I can say without hesitation that Tanya needs some empathy or compassion or some other human quality other than a sense of humor. I could expect this from a teenager at Walmart or McDonald's but not from a grown woman at a hardware store that's...
Read moreI have been working on a small project to help my turtle have a better habitat. The staff was tremendously helpful. I was there standing by the PVC pipes thinking. How am I going to do this? I don't know how long I was waiting but all of a sudden one of the employees finally snaps me out of my confusion. I am bad at remembering names but he was an older gentleman with a cool looking mustache. He brought more clarity to my mission. I was able to pick out 3/4 PVC pipes and then I was on my way home. Since my little one was losing patience. But then I remembered I needed to get PVC elbow fittings and a faucet to garden hose adapter. I did three trips going back and forth to my house, trying to figure out which adapter worked for my faucet. I probably should have asked for help sooner cause another employee came up to me and noticed that I have been there three different occasions. This employee was a nice bald gentleman. Finally, with his help I was able to get the adapter and the right PVC elbows to make my turtle contraption. It's to bad I can't bring the employees home to help me with this project. I also want to make a shout out to the person working the register for processing my mishaps and going through the return and exchange process more than two times. Thanks and I will probably be back soon. Not joking I will be...
