I've ordered twice from here and both times the food was bland and they skimped out on the protein.
Pork spring rolls $5 : Their spring rolls are mostly lettuce with thin slices of pork, I barely tasted the pork, definitely not worth the $5. Their peanut sauce was watered down thus lacking flavor.
Broken Rice Dish - Cơm tấm $14 : Their broken rice dish is missing the chả trứng (steamed egg meatloaf) and bi heo (shredded pork skin) as well as pickled cabbage and tomatoes. To top it off, the bbq pork was so thin and flavorless and it was barely topped with any scallion oil. It really was lacking all the qualities that makes cơm tấm (broken rice) a favorite. Not to mention their fish sauce barely had any flavor. I was extra disappointed on this one, it was missing most of the components of cơm tấm.
Rice noodle bowl - Bún thịt nướng $13: This is usually one of my favorite summer dishes, but the one from viet rice heavily disappointed. I had ordered this on a separate visit so I was disappointed to find the fish sauce was lacking flavor on my second visit as well. This was loaded with lettuce of course as a filler but missing the abundance of mint, basil, cucumbers, and bean sprouts. The protein (pork) once again was very minimal, this seems to be a trend with this restaurant. It was so much lettuce I was hungry again shortly after.
Fried Football Rolls - Ham Sui Gok $6: These are my favorite and earned this restaurant a second star but I can taste the old oil. The pork filling is so savory and the glutinous rice is deliciously chewy, it's a wonderful combination that would be paired well with beer.
Overall, if you're looking for good vietnamese food then keep looking because this place isn't it. It was lacking flavor and ingredients. The protein portions are stingy but they pack you up with fillers like rice and lettuce so they're definitely price gouging. I gave this place two tries and won't be coming in...
Read moreDined tonight with my husband. The restaurant looked clean and the wait staff were kind. Appetizers: I ordered the fried egg rolls and my husband ordered the chicken spring rolls. The chicken spring rolls were an overwhelming disappointment to say the least. They consisted of ice berg lettuce, rice, and shredded rotisserie chicken. My husband pushed himself to finish one but couldn’t bring himself to stomach the other. The fried egg rolls were satisfactory. Unfortunately I too was only able to eat one of the two due to losing my appetite while waiting for our entrees. We were only one of two tables sat and the restaurant was quiet when we hear a loud throaty cough and hack continued by more sniffling and coughing coming from the kitchen. My husband and I made eye contact, I pushed my plate away, and we asked for the check. Rather than asking us if something was wrong, the waitress exclaimed “Oh I know the appetizers can be pretty filling.” She ran our card and we left because at that point why even bother telling the wait staff- there was nothing she could have done to improve our experience. We will not be dining here again and if you value sanitary cooking conditions then I’d advise you to look...
Read moreJust tried out this place and I’m severely dissapointed, this chicken pho tastes instant and hardly has any color in the broth. No herbs like cilantro, basil or mint. They charged me $.50 a packet of sriracha. I’ve never been charged for sriracha at a pho restaurant. Overall the people were nice, the food made me feel like a fool. I can’t even take a bite of it, it smells so unappetizing. Pho bar has broth with color. A bad broth ruins pho so I can’t judge anything else because the pho is inedible. I’m very sad and now I have to wait and go spend $20 more on an actual bowl of edible pho. I hate leaving bad reviews but if I’d seen a photo of this I wouldn’t have purchased, especially if they told me I’d be paying so much for such a small amount...
