I was in Richard's Produce on Sunday and I had seen a woman bringing back produce. I over heard this woman speaking with the owner and the owner was explaining to the lady that they buy produce that is ripe and that it tastes good. The lady seemed offended because she told her strawberries can not be left out for days. I suppose it embarrassed her that she should have known that produce needed to be refridgerated. Not to mention, the produce market is much better for you and tastes better than the produce you buy from the store that's shelf life. The way I see it I know plenty of people that shop at this market and love it and it's a great family place. This woman Carla that wrote she should have smacked the owner explains her character right here. She gets all rude about some ripe produce that she admitted leaving out and the owner took care of it anyway. The only thing I can say is that I love this place and the produce is always tasty. The people that work there are always kind and helpful. I have seen them carry out boxes of produce for people including my own. Just like the good old days when people appreciated their customers. I will continue to stand by our home town market any day...
Read moreWe drove the 40 min to visit Richard’s as we loved Joe and Suzy’s. We went specifically for the strawberries. When we arrived, we saw a sign on the side of the building that said ‘strawberries 3 for $5’. While looking at the strawberry flats they had, a lady yelled over to us that they sold those by the flat, and the separate strawberries were inside. We knew and were interested in the flat, but wanted to check quality beforehand. This made us feel like we were being watched. We then went in to look around, and came across the individual containers of strawberries. The sign inside said 2 for $5. We asked and the guy running the counter said that his brother had forgotten to paint over their sign we saw. We decided to leave. As we were leaving we saw TWO more signs outside that said ‘strawberries 3 for $5’ (that’s a total of 3 signs with the 3 for $5). At that point we decided to go back in and say something as that is false advertisement. The guy at the counter laughed, and then said ‘okay I’ll let you have them for that deal’ as if he was doing us a favor, and that’s not what was being advertised. We miss Joe and Suzy’s dearly, the customer service was so...
Read moreI had bought a variety of fruits on a Tuesday. By Thursday the strawberries were moldy and wept rotten juices onto the grapes and the kale was withered , pale and limp. I emailed them, they told me to bring it back to be replaced. Had I known that the owner would yell at me in in front of the whole store I would have been better prepared. She lectured me that their produce is nothing like the "gross stuff" I brought back, they pick their stuff ripe and I should have eaten it within 2 days; accusing me of leaving it in my car to rot. It was a fruit gift basket for a sick friend and she told me it was not to sit in a basket. She was so loud and rude and disrespectful. I could have honestly slapped her. I will NEVER patronize that local business again. Your money is better...
