In short: I went to Mary's shops for textured faux locs, please see the pictures. (S/N: I had gotten knotless box braid before and they were fine.) Mary assured me that she could match the look. Mary started my locs (which had to be done later), but then she had another braider complete the look. Once getting started, I noticed that my hair was not turning out anything like what I requested. I asked for them to be taken out. Mary assured me that the style would turn out right. I waited a little longer and and my hair was still not looking right. Mary said the hair would loosen as I got wore the look, the braids were too tight and the style did not match look I wanted. It also looked like the locs in the back did not match the locs in the front, they were extra skinny. Again, I gave Mary braider an opportunity to fix the problem, so Mary put ANOTHER braid on my hair (that's 3 people). As her sign says, "Do not leave with your hair unhappy," so I gave her a third opportunity to fix it. I wanted to give Mary every chance to fix the problem." When the product was finished, it was not what I wanted at all. I left because by this time I was was there from 9:30am to 6pm for about 30 botched faux locs.
When I got home I told Mary that I was unhappy with the what I received and that I had to take the look out. Mary offered me to come back in for another style but I would have to pay half price. I did not accept that offer because it was unacceptable. Why should I pay for a service that was not great and the owner was trying to swindle me out of more money...NO! I initially asked for a partial refund of $125, but Mary's lack of concern to fairly fix the issue I requested a full refund. We went back and forth and Mary eventually refunded me a $120. Mary said the shop's policy does not grant refund and that she only gave me a partial refund because of the relationship with my friend that referred her to me. Mary loss my friend as a customer and me. And I will ensure to tell people about her lack of skill and unprofessionalism.

Read moreI normally don’t leave reviews, but I honestly wish I’d been warned before patronizing this business. I received a wash and box braids. Do NOT come with unclean hair. No one knew how to wash natural hair, they didn’t detangle until they began blowdrying, and the whole experience was painful. Also, I was told via phone before arriving that they wear masks, but I had to argue with them about actually enforcing their own policy, with one woman initially refusing because she’s pregnant and another constantly removing her mask. Otherwise, the braids were about an 8: clean lines, but some of the braids were crooked. So I returned weeks later to have my edges touched up. Bento (sp) did my hair and initially didn’t have her mask on but then put it on when I asked her. No problem. She pulled my hair harder than I remembered the first time, despite my asking her to braid them looser since I like my edges. There was just no care for my hair. I rushed out because the process took twice as long as was estimated. In the light of day, I found a hot mess: a crooked part with crooked braids of all shapes and sizes - squares and rectangles and triangles and oblong figures that I don’t recall in geometry. When I called to request a refund, I was told that they don’t do any refunds and they’ll only redo the style. That’s an untenable resolution given the stress on my edges. If you have healthy hair, I don’t recommend this establishment. If you have unhealthy hair, I don’t recommend this establishment. If you care for your health and social distancing/mask-wearing, I do not recommend this...
Read moreI asked for knotless and what I received was not knotless. It was stiff and tight. 5 days later it's still so tight that tension bumps have appeared all over my head. Every time ive gotten knotless braids before, I have been able to move my hair into a bun right after the appointment, this was not the case here. I get them for their versatility. I shouldn't have to wait a week to change my part with knotless. The jam the stylist had out was obviously filled repeatedly from a larger jar and the top on the smaller jar had mold on the inside of the lid. Then halfway through the appointment she stayed on her phone, not with a client but with her husband. Talk about unprofessional. To top it all off they took a picture of my hair and posted it online without asking me. I get that it is her work, but I paid $180 plus tip for something I wasnt completely happy with because I understand the impact Covid has had on our community recently and how hard on your hands it is to braid at all. Plus it is fair to be compensated for your work.
I probably would have just stayed quiet and kept trying to loosen my braids on my own so my hair doesnt break at the roots and just never get my hair done there again. But to go online and see they snapped a photo not for her own personal portfolio but to promote her business on Google without even asking if it was ok with the person in the photo is what really pushed me over the edge.
Needless to say I won't...
