â 0/5 â Horrible IPL Experience: Burnt Skin, No Results, and Poor Service
I had an incredibly disappointing experience with this office during my IPL treatments. I initially signed up to reduce some mild dark spots on my face, but it turned into a nightmare that Iâm still dealing with over a year and half later. On my third session, the treatment left burn marks on both sides of my face. When I raised this with the staff, they told me it was ânormalâ and would go away over time. Feeling uneasy, I mentioned it to my husband, who urged me not to return. However, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back for the fourth session. During the fourth session, I noticed the staff avoided using the IPL on my face and only treated my foreheadâwhich, shockingly, also ended up slightly burned. This made it clear that they knew what they had done but refused to take responsibility. Despite their assurances, the burns on my face did not fade after months. When I returned to the clinic, they gave me a cream to help with the marks but asked me to pay $90 for it! I refused, as I had already spent over $1,000 on treatments that left me worse off. The dark spots I initially wanted to treat were still there, with no visible improvement. The clinic gave inconsistent explanations. They claimed IPL only works in winter and must be repeated yearly. When I asked for a before-and-after analysis, the results confirmed what I already sawâno improvement. They blamed the return of my dark spots on summer season which was incredibly frustrating. Over time, I bought stronger products from the clinic, hoping they would help. Even after months of use and multiple prescriptions, the burn marks remained. To this dayâmore than a year and a half laterâthe burn lines are still visible on my face. After doing my own research, I found out that IPL treatments require a skin patch test to ensure the correct settings and to confirm suitability. This step was never done, and itâs clear the clinic lacked the necessary expertise or care. This experience has been emotionally draining and financially frustrating. Not only did I spend over $1,000 on ineffective treatments, but I also had to pay for additional creams and prescriptions, all while dealing with burned face. I regret trusting this clinic and hope my review warns others. If they had been more professional and accountable, this situation could have...
Read moreDr. Vaidya at Aura Dermatology along with the staff that I spoke with were very nice. However, I'm only giving three stars because I was called by one of the assistants three weeks ago with the results of my biopsy of a skin condition I have. Of course I had follow-up questions to which I was told I would have come in to talk to the doctor. I advised I didn't want to come in and pay a copay just to have follow-up questions answered, she was pleasant and took my questions. Since then it's been phone tag between her and the doctor and myself trying to get answers to basic questions that honestly should be answered when given the diagnosis (why, preventative measures and removal options etc.). It took me 2 and 1/2 weeks and another phone call with a separate assistant (who was also adamant about me coming in for an appointment to speak to the doctor) to be given the unsatisfactory answer that there's nothing they can do, no preventative measures I can take, my only choice is removal.
While the staff was well spoken and seemed very professional I think the runaround and the adamancy to come in just to be told there's nothing they can do was unprofessional. If the assistants are not equipped to answer basic questions regarding a diagnosis that they are providing to a patient, then someone who is should be calling and providing the diagnosis. Especially because (in my case) the two assistants that called me neither were aware of where my skin condition actually was and were giving me advice based on other areas of my body. Which based on my last phone call, don't apply to me apparently as my skin condition could only be treated if it's in a certain area (i.e my face, which doesn't make sense to me so now I have to pay a copay at a different dermatologist to get a second opinion).
I'll finish with this, they were very pleasant during my initial visit and while actually doing the biopsy. I felt comfortable and my questions at that appointment were answered. I have a separate cosmetic treatment I wanted done and I was planning on going back there when everything settled with this biopsy. However, based on the way I was given results and the runaround I had to do just to get those results, I think I'll find another dermatologist which is a shame because Dr. Vaidya was extremely nice in person and I was looking forward to going back for my...
Read moreI recently had a profoundly negative experience with Aura Dermatology that has left me deeply dissatisfied and frustrated. My experience revolves around attempting to reschedule an appointment at Aura Dermatology for the upcoming week. While my interaction was not with a doctor, it was with their support staff and the scheduling department.
My attempts to contact Aura Dermatology to reschedule the appointment were met with nothing short of sheer frustration. I made numerous calls, enduring long wait times without any success in reaching a human to assist me. When I finally managed to leave a detailed voicemail explaining my request, the response I received was far from satisfactory.
After what seemed like an eternity, Aura Dermatology responded with a phone call. However, the person on the other end displayed an unprofessional and rude demeanor. They confirmed my upcoming appointment next week, disregarding the fact that I had been attempting to reschedule and had already left a voicemail outlining my request. When I explained my situation and politely inquired if it was possible to see the doctor sooner in the week, I was met with an abrupt and dismissive response. The staff member stated, in an unpleasant and unhelpful tone, that the doctor was fully booked for the entire summer and hung up on me.
May be they're having a bad day but this experience has left a lasting negative impression on me and has raised concerns about the customer service standards at Aura Dermatology.
I kindly urge Aura Management to investigate and review, and implement necessary improvements to ensure that other patients do not endure similar experiences. As a potential patient seeking medical care, I believe it is essential for you to be aware of such instances that can significantly impact a patient's perception of your practice.
UPDATE: Aura responded to my review asking for contact details for them to connect with me, which I did. However, its over a month, but no one bothered to connect with me. Not that I was going to entertain their call but their response on google reviews is just to show they care but they...
