"Disappointing Experience with PostNet: 2x Hidden Fees and Poor Customer Service"
I recently visited PostNet to ship some international documents. I was quoted various prices for different carriers and ultimately opted for FedEx, as suggested by the PostNet representative.
Unfortunately, the shipment was delayed. While I called FedEx they offered a full refund due to the delay, PostNet has refused to refund the additional fees they charged for their services.
Here is the thing what I learnt when I put FedEx and PostNet on single call. PostNet middlemen services was close to 2X cost of FedEx. Cost of the shipment was greater than $170, and FedEx cost was less than $60. It seems they primarily acted as a middleman, placing my documents in a FedEx envelope and charging a significant markup. I understand that businesses need to make a profit, but the lack of transparency and customer service is disappointing.
I am still OK with additional fee, but when you take my package and promise me delivery times on behalf of the service provider (as I asked the agent will the package go on time, he said yes, and suggested it as best option compared to DHL), I expect you to take full responsibility to stand behind that promise.
If I had known that FedEx would offer a full refund for delays, while PostNet would not, I would have chosen a more direct shipping option. I would have gone directly to FedEx office 2-3 miles away or UPS or DHL, why would I come to you? It is not like I am leaving in South Dakota, where there are no local shipment offices.
In my case I learnt a lesson I would go to directly to carriers like DHL, UPS, or FedEx to avoid hidden fees and potential issues with customer service issues like above happen.
I requested the PostNet agent, and she RUDELY said they are not responsible for FedEx. My question is then why did you sign up to be FedEx Authorized Shipping agent? They say it is FedEx India, the FedEx India is part of FedEx. Excuses? this silly over customer service? really?
Question for FedEx: You are responsible for your agents, you need to make sure you hire the right people to put your logo on their website.
Question for PostNet: Why did you push/suggest me FedEx? When you promise on behalf of your provider (FedEx), why can't you take responsibility for your promises? You want to keep the profit, but not the loss that FedEx generated?
Imagine you hire a car rental company to rent a car. The car rental company promises a reliable vehicle and a smooth rental experience. However, the car breaks down during your trip, causing significant inconvenience. While the car manufacturer might be responsible for the mechanical failure, the car rental company is still accountable to keep the cars with...
Read moreBE AWARE. OWNER Minaxi WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER SHIPPING ERROR. She made me pay $36 custom fee for credit card shipped to Italy because she placed $1 value on the shipment which cost me $36.39 in custom fee. She was aware it was a credit card. She admitted that her program does not allow a $0 value so she placed a $1 value without telling me it would result in a customs fee. So a flaw in her program cost me $36 which she refused to pay. UPS was going to charge me over $130 to ship it back so i was forced to give Minaxi my credt card payment on the phone before she authorized UPS to charge her store and redeliver it. Bad business! Postnet should not make customer pay for their error! I will be filing a complaint for consumer fraud with the NJ Attorney General and a complaint with Better Business Bureau. What she did was wrong and I depended on her knowledge as an experienced shipper. Be aware...her mistakes...
