Siam Asian Market — Local services in Rockford Township

I've been a semi regular customer here since at least the mid 1980s & I absolutely love shopping at Golden Market. The staff is nothing but friendly, helpful & competent. They practice visible food handling hygiene, plexiglass barriers & ALL of their staff DEFINITELY wear both masks AND nitrile gloves as well as encourage customers to use their hospital grade hand sanitizer. The cashier visibly wipes down the purchasing area with Lysol between customers. Social distancing is absolutely NOT an issue even with a half a dozen fellow customers. As a long time customer, I highly recommend Golden Market for just about any/all multi Asian countries foods & even household items. And for Muslims, they even have a nice range of halal items. Why are half of these lower reviews something along the lines of "all they have is Asian food"? It's an Asian market, obviously they're gonna have Asian food...

With that out of the way, I go to this market very often and I'm typically never dissatisfied. I have, however, gotten expired or going bad tofu and veggies once or twice. Thankfully, the prices aren't steep enough for me to get super upset. Other than that, they have an awesome selection of snacks, meals, sauces, herbs and spices, fish, and drinks! Bit pricey, but it is one of the few places to get real Asian food in Rockford, so they can keep their prices at whatever they want them to be. It's also the most authentic place in Rockford to buy Asian food. So, they have the corner on that market. The store owner is also pretty friendly and makes polite small talk. If you're old and buy heavy stuff they'll even help you carry it to your car. The only down side is that the store is in a "bad" part of town.
