Food Lion — Local services in Rockingham

Love this grocery store. The loyalty program is great, and the staff are very friendly. Especially when they have deals, its awesome. The only thing is I noticed unless they have a sale going on or let's just say a 2/4 or 2/5 deals...Most of the items are more expensive than other stores. Not just household or personal products, but even most of the food items are up to a dollar plus more expensive. That is a huge difference. I personally believe that despite of the up charge on items here, they do however, have fresher produce and meats than Walmart. The produce bought from here doesn't spoil, become rotten, and wasted after 3 days of purchase. Also any meat I have purchased from here is freshly cut, without falsely coloring or hiding brown, green or any other discoloration in the meat. The meat is always a rich colored red, and never looks, smells, feels, or tastes foul. Best store around for meat and produce....

Every time i walk into this location, i'm met with a wonderful greeting and smile! The staff here always offers assistance in whatever manner's needed. As a former business owner (now retired), i can say that these employees truly enjoy their job......and seem to have a family like bond. If i hadn't sold my businesses, i would definitely try to have some of these staff members work for me! 😎. The only reason i didn't give 5 stars is because Food Lion doesn't have some of the products i've shopped for over the years. Regardless of that, i still prefer to shop here. Thank you for always having a smile, and greeting everyone cheerfully. Something as simple as that can be the deciding factor whether someone shops at this location repeatedly or not. Well I’m giving a mercy third star to their rating simply because there’s very few employees yet it’s kept reasonably clean and stocked. Unfortunately, their produce leaves much to be desired however, it’s a small out ofthe way town so likely has issues receiving fresh produce. Lastly, i orders pickup thru Instacart so I’m not sure if it was an Instacart shopper or an actual food lion employee who selected and packaged my order but BOY HOWDY did they do an awfully slack job at selection and packaging and attention to pesky details like expiration dates, correct items, and not packaging the entire order like a blind, one armed monkey. Cashiers in the store and Instacart shoppers alike both struggle with product placement … cold and heavy stuff almost seems purposefully tossed directly upon my bread and eggs Who needs those expensive fragile anyway?...
