Posted on Yelp, and I'll post a longer one here. I have owned three motorcycles in my life. All three have been bought at Sports Cycles in Rockingham, NC, right off Highway 74B. My first was an entry level Kawasaki Ninja 250 as I was a 'noobie' to motorcycles. Loved that thing. Rode the mess out of it for a couple of years until I sold it. Some years later I got the itch to own a bike again. So, I went back...the dealership had moved across and down the highway a little. No big deal. Walked in and was like, "Wow, this is a really nice, well maintained dealership."
Bought my 2nd bike, a Kawasaki Ninja 650r. Rode that thing all over the place. Went overseas, came back, had to sell bike to pay for a dental surgery. Cried. It was like losing a loved one. Now here I am about ten years later and I got the itch again. So where did I go? The first dealership that popped into my head was Sports Cycles. As I am living near the Charlotte area it's not like I have to drive more than 20-25minutes to hit up a dealership...but the problem is that none of them are as nice and no-pressure sales as Jeff, Bryan, and the rest of the gang. So I drove that hour or so to where I knew I'd be treated like more than a guy who's helping the sales rep make a boat payment. I mean, absolutely no pressure and they enjoy having conversations about life, work, play, as well as the products they are selling. Love that 'personableness' about them. Even found out we had a few mutual friends in common in the area!
So, I bit the bullet, and am getting my third bike from them. Suzuki GXR8. Looking to ride the mess out of it (safely, of course :) ). Stepping up a little in engine size because hey, a little extra power never hurt, right? And did I mention that unlike every other dealership I've been to, there are no hidden fees. It's just the price (and they'll wiggle a little for you) plus applicable taxes and registration fees. Nice. And if you need to put a little money down to hold the bike...they'll do that as well.
So, do yourself a favor and check these guys out. And if they don't have it in stock, they'll get it for you ASAP. The only thing I wish they'd do is offer you an RC Cola and a Moon Pie when you purchase, but hey, that's just being...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen purchasing a UTV/ATV you're looking for the best price. Plain and simple. However, when you're about to spend thousands of dollars, you want to be treated like a valued customer - not a burdon or hassle. A person. Not a transaction.
Well, that's exactly what I experienced with this dealership. The reviews initially drove me here - I hope mine can balance the rest because I didn't receive the same level of business as the rest of these reviews.
Sure, Sport Cycles beat the regional completion on price. However, their treatment of my wife and I wasn't worth the dollars being saved.
More than six times when told we would be called back we were left waiting more than 24 hours before having to call back to inquiry on an item we were looking to purchase. When calling back to get the answer we were looking for, we were talked down to or given the run around. Each time I was left feeling like a burdon and not a person looking to spend 13k cash. Even told, "who are you? I've talked to 30 people today, you're all the same. What do you want?"
Integrity: The dealership had a Honda special on their website and when asked about it - they flat out denied it's validity. As we were taking to them about the special, simultaneously they were taking off their website despite having screenshots of the monthly deal. We were told they wouldn't honor their own words. Weak.
Details: Additionally, we made a 90 min trip to their location only to learn the item we were told over the phone was in stock, actually wasn't. We were also told they could obtain the item we wanted in the color we desired but it'll "take a couple days." We later found out (after calling numerous times for an answer) they couldn't get the color they said they could. Which, wouldn't be a big deal, but it took three days to find this out.
In the end we decided to take our business elsewhere to a place who would treat us better, and honor deals they published. We decided it was worth the extra money on a list price in turn for a better customer experience at a place willing to honor their word.
Two stars due to price versus the competition. Otherwise, a one...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow where do I start. First, I live in Florida and my wife identified my dream bike online and called Sport Cycle. She spoke with the general manager who sounded extremely professional, knowledgeable, did not use any gimmicky language and so forth.
The bike was priced $1,000 cheaper than any dealer within a 500 mile radius of us. My wife asked if he would take $500 more off and he immediately responded āYes.ā What I appreciated was not the āyesā but instead the fact that he responded promptly and without the typical game of talking the client down / justifying the price.
After the price conversation, he began to go into great detail regarding the bike, the history, how they came into possession, his personal riding experience on this bike and so forth. The conversation transitioned to this gentleman being willing to hold the bike for $100 while we drove there in 3 days.
To my surprise, an hour later we get a great video of the bike which he starts up and completes a walk around. Candidly the bike was impeccable for being 6 years old. Later that week we drove to the dealership and what do you know..the bike is there with a sold sticker as promised.
There were no hard pressure sales/hovering and we were greeted and put into the capable hands of the GM. He brought us to the bike and went over all the pertinent details and answered all my questions. He then brought us to an administrative personnel who completed the paperwork in about two minutes.
Prior to leaving Brian shared he would follow up with us on Presidentsā Day to make sure we got home safely. Iāve purchased over 15 vehicles and 3 motorcycles an average of one per year and I have never had such a great experience. I sincerely hope the best for these guys and will be a...
