I was planning on writing this review on Yelp!, but this location hasnāt been added yet, and it has been a number of months.
I would give this store a 1-star review except the store itself is in wonderful condition and the regular staff there is great. Do not... I REPEAT... do NOT deal with the female co-owner/head manager of the store. She is one of the most unreasonable people Iāve ever met in the retail industry.
During the Grand Opening, I had to go purchase a new latch for my screen door. They only had one in stock, but it had some plastic raises in the back of it, so I thought I would try it. I get home, open the package with a pair of scissors, and try to attach it to the door frame. Sadly, it didnāt fit correctly, even with the plastic raises. Now, I still had the package it came in and no damage had come to the latch or plastic. I went to go return it nor more than 30 minutes later.
I was greeted with one of the most rude people Iāve ever dealt with in the retail business. She, very rudely told me that she wouldnāt take it back because the package was cut open, and she was unable to resell it because of that. I stared at her in such disbelief, and after about 10 seconds of dead silence, she said that she would take it back this once but nothing else I buy there can the packaging be damaged at all for them to take it back. After she walked away, I asked the cashier, āHow the hell do I see if things will work if I canāt get them out of the package?ā The cashier was sympathetic to me, sighed, and said, āThere is no way.ā Iām fairly certain the cashier knew how unreasonable the co-owner/head manager (something like that, based on what she said) is.
If you ever need to return things there, make sure whatever packaging the things were in are in pristine condition, lest youāre turned away when sheās the one returning them. Now, if she hasnāt been around (or not around much) since the Grand Opening, consider...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place has been very nice and we've loved going in... but this last time we told the older guy asking if we needed help that we were looking for paint for our shed. I tried to show him the color swatch and he says he just needed the number on it. I told him, then he asked which kind of paint (semi gloss, flat, etc.) We told him whatever he suggested for outside on a shed, we weren't sure. We get to the check out and find out he gave us the most expensive brand (I felt like at $50+ a can- he could have told us that ahead of time but whatever, it's a good paint). Got home and the color didn't quite look right, but it never does to me while it's wet. He didn't swatch a color on the lid or show us the color after he mixed it. After I got one side done, it's not changing color. I go to the lid and look up the number on the lid.... it's the wrong color. I decide I can live with the color, so after half shed is done it's not going on quite right, look at the gallon again, it's INTERIOR paint! Now, I should have checked all that before we left, but I have NEVER been given the wrong color OR interior paint when I asked for outside job paint. (And I've done several!!) I just took his word he knew what he was doing- that was my fault I guess. We might stop back here for other things, but I'll buy my paint elsewhere...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis store (owner) is charging more for items than they are marked on the shelves. As this store is independently owned and managed, the owner stated he can charge what he wants and the customer cannot assume the posted prices are correct.
Stated he is going to charge $10 dollars more than the advertised prices for the items pictured. Went back again several days later and advertised prices are still the same and owner still trying to charge more.
Explained to him that going by the posted prices is EXACTLY how a store works ( something you would think he should already know). Owner did not like being challenged on his unethical and likely illegal actions. Became angry demanding I āleave his storeā. It was kind of reminiscent of a 6 y/o telling you to get off his property.
Incredibly rude and worst customer service ever ( sad, because the employees are very good ). I will happily drive 10 more minutes to Menards or Home Depot where prices are lower and there is oversight and accountability.
Please do not patronize this guys business. After it closes down, Iām sure we will get another hardware store at the same location. That seems to...
