Montrose Market — Local services in Roselle

I’ve regularly noticed that the employees behind the cheese/cold cuts counter and the meat counter seem uninterested in assisting customers who don’t speak Polish, Czech, Ukrainian, or Russian. Is this a language limitations or a preference for helping clients who speak these languages? Unfortunately it’s become a consistent issue.

On multiple occasions, I’ve experienced situations where other customers speaking those languages were served before me, even though I was clearly there first. Most of the time they help 3-4 clients that do speak those languages and then eventually one nods at me as to say “what do you want” .This comes across as dismissive and unprofessional. Today, it happened again – and it was so evident that a butcher from the back came out to assist me because he saw I was being overlooked while others were helped.

It’s worth noting that the cashiers and other staff, like those stocking shelves, are always friendly and attentive. This issue seems isolated to the specific counters mentioned. While this is the most convenient grocery store for me, if this pattern continues, I will need to take my...

Lunch / dinner $6 special has saved me!!! Everyone knows I've been eating out over 27 years until covid. Losing 6 buffets from the shut down, my food budget tripled. My brother told me about Montrose Market exactly 2 weeks ago today, we went with mom and the experience was great! The people at the counter are nice. Now I've been there almost every single day and my food budget has cut 2/3 (66%) saving money and eating much better, including more vegetables. But it's not just about the price, the food quality, selections, and flavor is excellent! So far when I find a good thing I eat too much of it and I get tired of it. So far it's so good, not tired of it at all! Fried chicken patty, fried pork or swai fish, cabbage roll in the tomato sauce, cucumber dill is outstanding! VERY CLEAN everywhere in the store. Good prices on everything. Many items are priced better than big box stores. And they have great sales. They have a huge selection of everything, including beautifully displayed produce, even organic; if you want it, they probably have it. There's also lots of homemade goodies; prepared meals; hot bar, cold bar, lunch and dinner plates "to go" and their own bakery. They also have an excellent butcher counter. The cuts of meat are high quality, priced well and they always have sales. Be prepared...much of the staff speak Polish and some labels are written in the language of their country of origin. Lots of great imported products; including cheeses, olive oil, jams, jellies, pickles, sour kraut and even candies and cookies. For me, it's always an enjoyable shopping experience. Thank you...
