As a customer of 7 years and someone who worked there for a few months, i will never be supporting this company again. The amount of plants and practical items they blindly throw in the trash is honestly shocking and sickening.

For a local nursery of 30+ years to have no form of composting, and just blindly throws out living plants in the garbage, it is something I cannot support.

I personally witnessed it and started saving these plants out of the garbage before they were killed, yet I got spoken to and told I can't because "I might step on a nail, or encourage customers to also do it" me asking questions regarding this was not allowed and seen as "arguing"

I SAVED hundreds of pounds of sod, and at least 100 plants, 95% of them all survived and are thriving. I am never going to support this company again and I hope they change their policy.

Now from time to time before they threw out plants and killed them they gave us employees the opportunity to grab them. Unfortunately whatever wasn't grabbed was still thrown out with no care in the world. No donating to a senior center, no donating to the local school, no discounting 90% for customers, just thrown in the garbage.

Look at there dumpster container, they taped a paper sign onto it saying not to get any items from it. They posted that just because of me. I am the only one in the history of the organization who took the initiative to not blindly follow orders and actually respect nature and the plants we have enough to save them.

My Response to Platt Hill's Comment on My Review You are unfortunately lying. I will now attach photos of all the plants I saved that had no diseases or issues. I will not be counting the ones employees were able to grab before being tossed out and killed unnecessarily. I am going to show the plants that were already...

Platt Hill is a fantastic business that has supported the community for decades. I am so grateful to have Platt Hill as my local garden center because the staff is knowledgeable and the displays of plants is inspiring. One thing that has helped me the most in my shopping for plants is their website. Thank you for running a website that has helped me determine which plants are best for my yard. Thanks to the website, almost everything I have bought from them has survived and thrived over the years. It has helped me avoid costly mistakes and I am so grateful! When I see the negative reviews on here, I know that is because people are not utilizing the website and not doing the research that is necessary to buy plants that will be successful in their yards. I also know that most people are not watering their plants enough either, but that isn't Platt Hill's fault. Yes, prices are a little high, but they are employing a lot of people and paying them well while running a business that is seasonal, so that should be taken into consideration. The only suggestions I would make are to expand the indoor store so that there can be more registers and allow for more room for customers waiting in line. Also, I love the rewards program but it would be great if I could somehow track my rewards online so I know how close I am to my next discount. I know people who drive all the way from Lake county and even Chicago to shop here because it is one of the best garden centers...

First and foremost, we have been going to Platt Hill for over 20 years for all seasons and all types of items: flowers, pumpkins, Christmas trees, etc! My mom even refers to Platt Hill as her “happy place”.

We had a pretty rough experience roughly a week ago and we were very disappointed because we have always had wonderful and memorable experiences. I reached out, heard back almost instantly from Graham Hill (the owner) and spoke with him for several days. He was extremely apologetic, offered to meet with my mom and I, helped us pick out the perfect tree, made sure everything was coordinated properly, and made sure we were treated like family! He even provided us with a handwritten apology!

You really can’t find better than the owner of Platt Hill. He knows what he is doing and he knows how to take care of his customers. He also goes above and beyond to correct anything that goes wrong and go above and beyond to show his customers that he cares.

I can’t thank Graham enough for handling a complaint we had with such class! He is truly one of a kind and so is Platt Hill!

We now have a gorgeous Christmas tree, wonderful outdoor decorations, and a happy memory from Platt Hill this year.

Thank you Graham. We realize that one bad experience is not normal for Platt and we appreciate how responsive you were. We will definitely continue to love, appreciate and...

This is my favorite nursery in the whole Chicagoland area. I drive a little over an hour just to come here and can spend hours looking at all the varieties of plants, trees, flowers, etc they have. Everyone is always very friendly but today I had exceptional service from Kent. He took the time to answer all my questions and went above and beyond on recommendations. He seemed genuinely happy to help me even after I stopped him for questions several times. If you ever have any questions or need guidance I highly suggest you ask for him. Can’t wait to go back for my front landscaping project within the next few weeks. The pictures are from a few past containers and plants I’ve utilized from them.

Eye catching and beautiful nursery that will make you feel like your lost in another plant world. They have cute little succulents starting $2.99-$3.99 to gorgeous outdoor plants and indoor plants starting $5.99-above. My personal favorites are the cactus, devils Ivy, birds nest, croton and rubber plant. I purchased all of those there and the girl helped me decide on which ones would survive indoor with low light. They also fill up the pots up buy with the plant with soil. The pots range from $1.99-$9.99 depending on size. I purchased my pots there. Thank you Platt Hill, I will come back again! 5/5!
