**âThis property is very abusive towards tenants. When you move out, they do not return your deposit, and if there are issues like bedbugs or other problems in the unit, they do not provide the proper solution. I had two terrible experiences with them.
The first one was at 1800 Plateau Vista (Colonial Grand). They did not return my deposit, claiming it was only $150, which is a lie. My actual deposit was $1,350. I requested the remaining amount, but they ignored my request.
The second bad experience was at this property, 1111 South Creek (Sierra Vista). According to them, I didnât give a 60-day notice, which is false. I notified them on the last day of my lease expiration that I wanted to renew, but only if they moved me to another unit because my current one had AC issues. The AC was leaking, and despite three maintenance visits, they kept saying it was normal, which is not trueâno AC should be leaking.
During my first winter there, the windows in the master bedroom and some in the living room froze from the inside. I reported it, and their response was: âThe windows are not new, just put towels to prevent the cold.â The windows had mold, as well as the bathroom lights and part of the walls.
Later, I got a bedbug infestation and notified them, but it seemed to bother them. They asked me to move the furniture so they could send the appropriate personnel. At that time, I had surgery and told them I couldnât do it. They said they would call me in a few weeks to schedule a visit, but they never did.
Unfortunately, an incident occurred in the guest room where someone from outside broke the window. They charged me for it. Before this incident, my unit transfer had been approved, but then they canceled it. Days later, they approved it again but required me to submit a new application. When I went to turn it in, they refused to accept it because I had a meeting with Vincent, the manager, regarding the bedbug issue.
After the second incident, they canceled my transfer again until I paid for the broken window. Once I paid, they approved the transfer, but only to a much more expensive unit at $1,850. This was their decisionâthey changed everything. If I accepted, they put me on a month-to-month lease with a rent of $2,300 without notifying me beforehand.
At this point, I told them I would not be renewing my lease. Now, they are charging me for supposedly breaking the contract and for the window again. During the meeting, I asked Vincent if these incidents would affect me if I decided not to renew my lease, and he clearly said, âIt will not affect your credit because you are resolving the issue on time.â However, now they have put a negative mark on my credit and changed the entire conversation to suit their interests.
I am attaching proof of everything...
Read moreI'm a relative newcomer, having moved in about three months ago, and I've had a pleasant experience here so far. In this review, I'll include some downsides and critiques for the sake of transparency for potential renters, but overall, I'm happy with MAA Sierra Vista and would recommend living here.
The maintenance team stands out as being unusually good and responsive to issues. There were minor problems when I moved in. These included a problem with the bathtub drain/stopper, a sticky patio door, and a window blind in the bedroom that had been damaged. These were addressed quickly after I reached out to the office.
I can see from other reviews here that Wesley with maintenance is mentioned a lot. Wes, thanks for your professionalism and good work. Miranda at the front office has also been great since I first arrived, responding to inquiries quickly and professionally.
I feel the rent is reasonable. I appreciate that the apartments are gated, which makes me feel safer. There's a gym and a pool.
The location is fantastic, at least for me. It's right across the street from a grocery store, restaurants, and a doctorâs office, and not too far from downtown or I-35.
Other downsides to be aware of: Parking is competetive, at least in my area/lot, particularly in the evenings when everyone's home. I was able to get around that by paying for a parking space, which is probably worth it if you decide to live here. Of the two areas, the one further from the main road is noticeably quieter during the day.
In summary, this is one of the nicest places I've lived, in large part because of a courteous and obviously...
Read moreWell where do I begin, I have lived here for 2 1/2 years and the Management team are very personable but the apartments are super old and extremely expensive. I lived in a 1 bedroom and moved into a 2 bedroom and that was when my disappointment in this place diminished. My building was under construction for about a year now, including when I had shoulder surgery and they shut down the stairway to my house and didnât put any safety measures in place to help the residents having to walk around the building to get to the back stairs and I ended up falling. If I was sue crazy I would have filed a lawsuit against them because it is up to them to provide safe access to my apartment. I have had a water issue since I have moved with one of my bathrooms and have put request in to fix it. One of the maintenance guys David started working on it and then got relocated and no one bothered to follow up so it remains the same. My toilet makes me feel like I am leaning to the left when sitting on it and when I step in my bathtub/shower it is like stepping on a watermelon and you can hear water under it. David was working on all of this and commented that no one even caulked around the tub it is ugly and cracked. Then the foundation issues. Since they supposedly fixed it I canât lock my doors from outside only inside. The grounds are not kept up anymore and the DUMPSTERS well that is a horror story in itself. I haves decided to move on my way and I wouldnât recommend this place to anyone. Also the road noise of racing cars on Gattis School road is out of control. Of course that is not the...
