I'm not from the area that this particular Ollie's is located, but I stopped for 2 reasons. One, I like to compare locations of different stores I shop on a regular basis. Two, my 13 year old was having shoe/blister crises so we were looking for socks and or more comfortable shoes for her.
The set up is essentially the same as the location by my home. They had items in stock that my regular store has run out of already and some things I haven't seen before. I had lost track of the day of the week and hadn't realized it was Sunday and the store closed earlier then other days of the week. EVERY STORE I had still been shopping at within an hour of closing time has overly used the intercom announcing when the store closes. They seem to announce it every 5 minutes or less! If it isn't ACTUALLY every 5 minutes, it sure seems like it is and it's extremely irritating! That was not the case at this Ollie's location. Instead, an employee came up to us and asked if we were finding everything ok and offered his assistance if we needed it and then let us know the store was closing in 10 minutes. That was the first time we heard it and the ONLY other time we heard it was when they did make an announcement that the store would be closing in 5 minutes. That was a welcome surprise!!! Given that and how the other employees we came into contact with at check out treated me and my daughter, I would have to say they have top notch customer service! Even though it was closing time, the transaction was not rushed and there was nothing but helpful, informative and smiling faces! At the time, I was mentally, emotionally and physically wore out, but they truly brightened my day and helped me put a little bit of pep back into my step!
Thank you to all the hard working and appreciated employees of the Ollie's on State...
Read moreStopped here on my way back from visiting the USS Edson. The items and prices might be a tad lower on some things, but I didn't see that much of a difference. I did buy a queen size comforter which is also sold by Walmart. It was only $2 less. I am sure they do have some great deals, but over all, I wasn't impressed. They did have a huge selection of items and yes, some oddities and unique things. Over all, clean and decent store. If you are local or passing by it is worth it. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way as I did...
Read moreLove going into this place and seeing what they have. Deals and more deals, but somethings I've noticed recently is that their deals aren't always deals cause some things are exactly the same price as going to the regular shopping place to buy things. So not a bargain but has their price tag on it!? Comebon now, places that you are supposed to get deals or bargains at aren't thrift stores at all anymore with the way the economy is! At least I'm going to make excuses for those places! Ha! Anyways you should still go...
