I have deliberated for some time on whether to leave a review for Black's Carpet Discount. This company is a mixed bag. On one hand, their pricing is good - if you can get material which isn't defective. My experience using them for two rental units (was originally to be four but I couldn't continue working with them) is below. First, material (new in box Shaw flooring) ended up being defective which was not discovered until their contracted installer began installing the flooring. The installer's solution to this was to duct tape the old floor (carpet) to the already installed new, defective flooring leaving my tenant with an unsightly floor. Second, the installer couldn't return for nearly a week even though I had picked out a new floor from Black's the same day that they discovered the other material was defective. Third, the second unit had its' install delayed three times before it was finally completed.
If this were my business, I would have done everything possible to correct these problems - even at my own expense, because that is just the right way to do business. As an owner of multiple businesses, even if something is not your fault as a business owner, it is your responsibility to make sure the customer isn't the one that is coming up short. Black's will not take responsibility for most problems (installer delays, etc), and if they do take responsibility they will ensure you know how much of a favor they are doing you (the defective material).
Overall, I would not recommend Black's as they do not, in my opinion, have quality customer service and are not dependable. If you have your own installer or are installing yourself AND you verify that the material you are purchasing is not defective prior to pickup, they may be a fine place to do...

I had been struggling for months removing glued-down plank flooring to concrete…uggghh…and just was not sure what to put down in place. I knew I wanted a good product with a wood look and one that would fit my budget hence me removing the floor. I was really becoming worried as concrete was coming up with planks…I had been quoted up to $10k to remove flooring and re-coat the concrete…this was disheartening. I decided it was time to go to the pros who do this every day. I took pics of my floor- damage, etc. to best illustrate my situation. Karen Black greeted me, patiently listened and brought in her husband, John. He listened, reviewed the pics and told me this was not as bad as I had been led to believe. John explained luxury vinyl plank in detail and told me why and how this product would work with my floor. Instant relief! I went home with a half dozen samples and found the perfect floor for my needs! The pricing was great - under budget and the flooring has a 20 year warranty. The Black’s’ are wonderful and their staff is knowledgeable and kind. Black’s provided first class customer service and gave me peace of mind, which I consider to be priceless! I have another project coming up and will be using Black’s. They’re just good people who truly want to provide you with the best options - and no pressure. Thank you...
Read moreI purchased flooring for the living room and two sets of stairs for my home. I chose Black’s because I like to shop with locally owned stores when possible. The carpet did have a warranty and I used their installer. I purchased my carpet in November of 2018. Part of the warranty was professionally clean it at least once each year.
The carpet was professionally cleaned in October as specified in the warranty. The cleaner noticed three spots where the carpet fibers were indented and they did not fluff back up, and it was his recommendation to contact the store and report the problem.
The salesman came to my home and did notice the problems, stating he had not seen anything like it before. He also commented on some loose fibers in other spots, but I was concerned about the indented spots that would not fluff up. He took photos and said he would let me know what the owner would do to assist me. After a week of waiting, I called him and he said the owner declined to pursue the warranty, blaming it on me - saying perhaps my cats or some type of cleaner I may have used caused it (?)....
They describe their great warranty, but fail...
