I've visited this shop a few times in the past and was initially drawn in by its range of vintage items, but after my most recent visit, I won’t be returning, and I feel obligated to share why.
To start, the pricing was beyond unreasonable. We saw basic, worn posters priced at hundreds of dollars, and a random metal sign marked at $400 that could easily be found online for a fraction of the cost. It honestly felt like prices were made up on the spot with no basis in market value or condition.
Even more troubling was the abundance of racist memorabilia scattered throughout the store. As a customer, I found it deeply uncomfortable and disappointing to see these items displayed so casually, with no apparent context or critical framing.
While browsing, both my friend and I felt as though we were being watched very closely by the owner, who we could also hear making comments about us to the staff. This surveillance and gossip made us feel unwelcome and unfairly judged.
To top it off, the store had a strong and unpleasant odor that made the shopping experience even more uncomfortable. But the final straw was a rude comment made directly to us by the owner while we were looking at posters. We had intended to make a purchase, but after that interaction, we immediately put everything down and left.
This experience was disappointing and honestly, upsetting. I cannot recommend this store to others, especially when there are many antique shops that are far more respectful, fairly priced,...
Read moreTime Warp just completed an estate sale at our mom's hours. Crazy time for this given the pandemic, right? Despite all that has changed for them, and us, during this time, they totally stayed on task. They kept in contact with us as rules at the governmental level kept changing and they made sure we were in the loop, making sure the changes weren't causing problems for us. That said (that this was not a normal time to be doing this!), as far as the sale itself, they were remarkable in the systems they use to go through the house, organizing all so that it was as visible by category for the buyers as you could imagine it being. They were easy to interact with and pretty much spot on with what they thought the sale would bring in. They tried at each step to keep our cost as low as possible, particularly for the final clean-up (no, not everything your mom collected for 70 years in one house will be enticing to buyers!). We were blessed and thankful that this group, and Steve in particular, were who we chose for this mammoth...
Read moreAn exceptionally rude staff. We walked in and after being greeted we said; "Thank you! Just looking around today" and the old staff member proceeded to have petty comments while we shopped and tried to check out. Saying "Well you would have known about the sale if you left me finish"-- and then CONTINUED with "Well we greet all of our customers but since you didn't want to hear it". Something must have happened over the holiday because he was VERY unhappy and wouldn't stop making the rudest comments. So my mom, after three statements by this elder, said "You don't have to be rude sir"-- and that's what set him off.
that's when I asked to halt the purchase.
And then I continued to be berated. I'm a little confused? As to why I had to continuously have petty comments thrown at me while I was buying things?. But then again, judging by their "full" parking lot... well... I wish them luck on all their "sale" today.
If...
