My husband and I visited for a date night, excited to try something new in town. We spent just over $100, hoping for an evening with good food and a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, it fell short across the board.
The lobster mac and cheese arrived cold, with barely any sauce and tiny bits of lobster that felt more like a garnish. My husbandâs maple bourbon steak tips were tough and overcooked; closer to frozen Salisbury steak than a fresh entrĂ©e. Even the âdaily bread for twoâ came with just five miniature pieces, each smaller than my palm.
Service was strained, but not for lack of effort. Our waitress was clearly juggling multiple roles, and we only saw three employees total. My drink sat on the bar for a while before being handed to me, and we were given our check mid-sip without any signal we were ready. Thatâs not on the server; itâs a staffing issue management needs to address.
To top it off, our card was mistakenly run for someone elseâs order. It was fixed, but added to the overall sense of disorganization.
I donât enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I do believe in honest feedback. This town deserves better, and I hope they take steps to improve food quality, pacing,...
Read moreI am gluten sensitive. We were seated. Noticed nothing was marked GF on the menu. So told the waitress I would need some advice on GF options. She said âlet me ask the cook.â When she came back she said âWe have NO gluten free options.â Obviously we had to leave! In over 15 years of having to eat GF this has never happened to me before. Most restaurants have GF bread or buns, but even in those that donât the answer is something like âwe offer 3 salads and can give you an oil and vinegar dressing and leave off the croutons, you can have the hamburger as a lettuce wrap, the sandwiches can be prepared as salads, and so on.â Either this cook is really ignorant or is just a jerk! BTW it was for an early lunch, there was only one other party in...
Read moreWe dined in and stopped in sometime in June to make a reservation for 12 people for September, for dinner after our small wedding. We asked on those two separate occasions if they were open on that date, they said yes and wrote down the reservation with our info. On the day of our wedding, we arrived to Downstreet and it was closed. They did not contact us previous to this day to let us know they would be closed. It was quite a shock as we scrambled to find another restaurant that would take 12 people on a moments notice. Thankfully 98 Mill took us (and their food was fantastic!). I have emailed the owner and have received no reply. Really disappointing and horrible business practice. We were hoping to frequent Downstreet but we will...
