I have rented for over 10 years and this has by far been the worst experience in terms of management, building and leasing office. I highly recommend that you do not live here due to a multitude of reasons.
The leasing office has high turnover, fail to gather any correct information and talks down the residents. Krystal especially talks to the residents as a dictator, is not accomdating and places blame on everyone but herself. For example, she threatened that 2700 will become dog prohibited if dog waste is not picked up. When we moved in, we were charged an addition fee for our dog so that our dog could be dna tested and help accountable for the waste. We suggested that solution to Krystal but she continued to disregard that. That fee was also never used as our dog was never dna tested so they pretty much just took our money. Another example: there are apparent rules about dogs around the pool. We were told that dogs were allowed around the pool but later received a notification that dogs were not allowed and there will be a fine if it continues, however, we received a direct screenshot from another resident that displayed an email from Krystal herself saying that it was okay for dogs to be out by the pool. She is very selectively accommodating and determined rules whenever she likes. In addition, when dolly carts were missing, she threatened that if they were not returned they will be checking security cameras and fining 500 dollars instead of asking politely. We have brought this up with corporate and they have agreed that this is not an acceptable way of being talked to.
The garage is constantly garbage filled, leaking water and the garage door took several months to fix. In addition, there have been multiple robberies and muggings in the garage. It is extremely unsafe and if you care about your car and safety I recommend that you do not live here. They have apparently increased security but I never see them and the robberies inside the garage keep occurring. The garbage like the photo depicts is not a 1 time incident. It is constantly like this and often times has a horrible stench associated with it.
The location next to the light rail is a blessing and a curse. It is nice that is right across the street but you can hear it from 80% of the building. In addition, businesses snow plow at 4am during the winter and the sound is unbearable. So if you want a quiet apartment this is not the place.
Although this is a personal reason I still give this place a 1 star for the reasons above. we wanted to move out early so we asked if we could find a subletter. Krystal said that was fine but after I showed our unit to multiple people and found one that wanted to rent my unit, she convinced him to sign a different unit leaving us having to stay in this horrible run apartment complex.
I highly recommend anyone that is considering living here to NOT due to the management, building, and safety. Also all the reviews in the last 8 months are because they are...
Read more2700 University is a horrible place to live, primarily stemming from incompetent management. To start with, everything the leasing office says is a lie. Since the day we moved in, they promised they were hiring full-time security to deal with the break ins, theft, and vandalism that plagues the building. Not once in three years did it happen. The maintenance team have to respond to most emergency calls. Occasionally, the police officer that they let live for free in the building will answer the call, but they are often at work or grocery shopping or have some other reason they can't help you.
Another lie is exterior door security. They promised for years to put cameras and locks on the exterior lobby door - it never happened. Another exterior door never latched properly. We reported it several times and it was never fixed.
We have had packages stolen multiple times, every free weight in the gym was stolen, homeless people sleep in the entryway and block safe exit from the building, and someone tried to cut our bike lock in the keyed, residents-only bike room and the office did nothing about it.
The building is constantly having major issues. Elevators go down all the time. The gym is rarely stocked with cleaning supplies. Even after the semi-annual washing, the garages are filthy. Garage ceilings leak excessively when it rains or snows. The hot tub is often ice cold. The halls constantly smell of weed and cigarettes, even though it is a "no smoking" building. It leaked into our apartment several times and the office claimed they could do nothing about our neighbors smoking in their unit because they had "no proof."
Not only are the walls not smell-proof, they aren't sound-proof either. We had many issues with loud and unruly neighbors. You can also hear the dumpsters getting LOUDLY emptied every morning in the garage and every single car alarm that goes off.
Policies, in general, are not enforced. There are constant issues with residents letting strangers into the building via the front door and the garage. The office sees this clearly and does nothing. However, when we had guests, the staff harassed them in the hallways and asked why they were in the building and who they were visiting.
There were frequent water shut-offs to the building with no notice. The office would close without warning for "staff appreciation" multiple times per year. They lie about building inspections happening. They also lie about rates when you renew your lease, and we nearly had to take them to court to get our security deposit back because they ignored multiple requests from us.
In case you needed one more reason not to live here, the accessibility is awful. There is only one entrance you can use if you need a mobility device (and it's the one often blocked by homeless people sleeping).
As another reviewer has included in their images, the management bribes people for...
Read moreI am not sure why there are so many positive reviews about this place. Our experience has been very different. We stayed there for a year and had multiple negative experiences.
Shortly after we moved in, we found out the dishwasher was all dirty and rusted and a large window pane had a seal break and all fogged up. We contacted the management team and asked them to replace both. They sent someone to the room who ran the dishwasher without checking what was in it and ruined our new coffee pot and then said the dishwasher was working fine. After several negotiations, they finally replaced the dishwasher but not the window pane, and never said anything about the coffee pot.
Our lease ended at the end of July. In April, we sent a message notifying them that we will be moving out and asking them what we should do. They never provided us the move-out information. Instead, they asked for the specific date of our move-out. After we moved out and dropped off the key, they said we didn't notify them and therefore they needed to deduct part of the deposit. After negotiations, they said they will refund all the deposit but we never received the deducted deposit. When we tried to contact the leasing office again, their emails stopped working and they stopped responding to our phone calls.
The building is nice and the room is quite spacious. But the experiences with the leasing office has not been good. A final caution is to communicate with the leasing office using your personal email, not through the leasing system. Otherwise, once they revoke your access to their system, you lose all of your communication records in it.
BTW, if you look up the company who owns this property, Flaherty & Collins, on Best Business Bureau, it has a 1 star average of 9 customer reviews and 12 complaints closed in the last 3 years and 3 complaints closed in the...
