The hotel rooms, cleaning staff, and the front desk employee are the only reason I can't give this 1 star. They were kind and though the rooms are a bit small, it was a comfortable place to stay. The reason for only 2 stars is the man who I believe was a manager that approached us upon our immediate arrival. We drove in from Chicago, so we were already pretty tired. We pulled up to their door with the luggage carts so that we could unload our stuff for the week stay, and he runs out to us telling us we could not be there because of the shuttle (that didn't show up as long as we were u loading). I explained to him we were just unloading and that we would be gone in less than 5 mins (realistically, if he hadn't rebuttaled, it would have only taken 2 mins at most) but he came back at me saying we could not be there. This is all before we even entered the building after driving for 7+ hours. I could not be more upset about how he approached us so frantically. No one was waiting for the shuttle and the shuttle didnt show for at least 10mins after we unloaded! He then proceeded to say he could help us after being so rude and frantic, and I told him that I would prefer he doesnt because I did not want him to touch our property. That's just the start....
Upon checking in, apparently this hotel decided recently (as we have stayed at this hotel in years previous) to start charging $15 (plus $1.03 tax) for overnight parking.... this is absolutely and completely absurd to me. Their lot is so incredibly small, and in fact does not have enough room for all of it's occupants on any given night... their overflow lot (which they still charge $16.03) a night for was over a block away and in the far back of the lot. And given that it was winter and below freezing every night, it was so unpleasant to walk from our vehicle to the hotel, just to have to retrieve it in the morning... the fact that they feel they can charge people for that just shows you how incredibly cheap and terrible this company/specific location is. Not to mention both lots were both poorly plowed, so this limited their parking availability even more.
I am very dissatisfied and disappointed with my stay and will be choosing other hotels in...
Read moreThis was one of our best hotel stays ever! The room was exceptionally clean, well maintained, and comfortable. We had the option of parking in the underground parking garage for added security; we highly recommend this option if you stay in the University area Hampton, whereas the garage was clean, convenient, and very secure. Parking is $22.00 per night, but the cost is worth the added layer of security (in the garage). Beds and pillows were comfy, great water pressure in the shower, and plenty of countertop space in the bathroom and in the room for organizing our items. The free breakfast was a bonus, offering eggs/omelets, sausage, fresh fruit, waffles, toast, a variety of juices, coffee, etc.; plenty of options for everyone. There’s a hidden gem with ~10 different eating concepts located about 2 blocks from the hotel called The Market at Malcolm Yards. We ate here multiple times during our 3 day stay, whereas it was a quick walk from the hotel and offered something to satisfy everyone (burgers, Asian food, variety of pasta, pizza, Mexican food, self-serve beer, ice cream, vegan options, etc.). As a side note, we found out the hard way that it’s best to spend a few extra dollars to take an Uber or Lyft rather than using the light rain/bus transit system to get to tourist attractions. After a scary experience, we learned the light rail in Minneapolis is the most dangerous in the country. (We had a car on this trip, but it was tricky finding parking in the city, so we utilized Uber which was super convenient. There was always an Uber driver within 3-10 minutes from our location.) If ever in Minneapolis again, we’ll definitely book another room at...
Read moreThis hotel goes above and beyond. It took my breath away how helpful the staff were. See our son was in Minneapolis for Transplant Evaluation. We were over 1,000 miles from home. Our son wasn't feeling great and our 3 and 4 year old daughters were on their first out of state trip. We were nervous, exhausted, and possibly on the verge of insanity when we arrived. They made us feel the opposite. They uplifted us, helped us rest, went out of their way to provide guest services that many other hotels "forget" or just fail to provide. Breakfast was always amazing. The room was always a pleasure and getaway from hospital appointments and tests. They directed us to get food, and tons to see and do. They girls loved the pool, and we really saw them have fun and unwind. Our son, Seeley. was able to rest and find comfort. He is non verbal autistic on top of having Hereditary Pancreatitis. So it was a real treat to see him communicate how relaxed he was and happy to be back at our hotel at the end of the day. The staff were so kind to him and his sisters. It was a one of a kind experience that we will always hold close to our hearts. We will definitely be going back asap. As a matter of fact, we joked we may drive back before his next appointment just to enjoy the hotel again! Thank you to everyone for such a special retreat. Thank you for your hard work. It shows in every aspect of your hotel and we felt spoiled rotten while we were there! If your looking for a great place to stay, you found it. Look no further and just book...
