One Star only because I could not leave less. We were VERY DISAPPOINTED in Mattress Directs customer service.
In October 2021, we purchased a mattress and foundation from Mattress Direct Inc. for the amount of $863.59. Due to an extended delivery time, this order was canceled in December 2021. This was prior to our receiving the purchase.
In April of 2022 we discovered that the refund of this purchase had never been credited to our credit card account. We contacted Mattress Direct’s O'Fallon store and informed them that we did not receive the refund. They informed us they would contact the corporate office to inquire about the status. We then spoke with an employee at the Bridgeton office and informed him of the situation. He stated that he would be back in contact with us no later the following day. No response was received.
A week later, we spoke with another employee at Mattress Direct’s Wentzville location. He emailed Management requesting that she address the issue and contact us.
In June 2022, we met in person with the manager at the Bridgeton location. She told us that she would pass the matter to the owner who would meet with "the bookkeeper" sometime within the next 45 to 60 days and he would handle the matter. She stated that she would be in contact with us within 24 hours to confirm. No further communication was received following this visit.
In September 2022, we again attempted to contact the owner by certified letter and email. Delivery of the letter was declined, and no reply to the email was received.
Finally, having exhausted all options short of small claims court, we contacted the BBB and the Missouri Attorney General. Mattress Direct declined to respond to the BBB, but contacting AG finally convinced the owner to refund our purchase amount in January 2023, after over a year of asking Mattress Direct to address this matter.
It is EXTREMELY DISSAPPOINTING that a company whose owner paints himself an asset to the local community and upstanding businessman did not have the professionalism or decency to address this claim in an ethical and expedient manner. I'm all about getting the best bang for my buck so I got a sweet deal on a 12' memory foam mattress in a box on cyber Monday from amazon, but after trying it, it was just too firm for me. A facebook post by Sean from the store caught my eye about a deal on a hybrid, so I decided to give them a shot while I was out and about on the weekend. Sean showed me the mattress he mentioned, but again it was too firm, so he showed me another range and let me try whatever mattress I fancied. Not only was there absolutely no pressure (I was there from 3-530, a bit past closing even), he knew everything about every mattress I laid on thanks to his 18+ years experience. You'll get more info out of him than Consumer Reports. In the end I found a soft yet supportive hybrid I've honestly enjoyed sleeping in the past few nights. I even decided to get a powerbase like I always wanted and Sean had 0 issue with me doing a quick price comparison on my phone infront of him, his 1st price was the best price. All around a great guy. For something you may spend 8 years on, put in the time and investment. Guys who did the delivery were chill and focused as well. Not only did have the same problems that others had not getting my mattress in 4-5 weeks as they stated on the purchase order and not returning my calls at 6 and 8 weeks. I' m not even sure I got the product I ordered, And they damaged my current mattress which was to be moved to the basement. My purchase order stated they were to remove a king mattress from the basement, which they did by way of the basement side entrance. The movers then chose to move my current King (14+ inches 2 sided) mattress down the stairs and the ends were “folded” and forced thru and became damaged. , I contacted Mattress Direct, and they provided me an email, to resolve the problem. I emailed and provided an explanation, with pictures, of what had happened and photos of the damaged mattress. I believe the internal springs were deformed when they were folded.
