Ok, so I went a few nights ago, and I waited to drop a review until my emotions settled. Here we go: This is my 1st time eating, but I thought about ordering online before, but the cost was ridiculous. So I figured ordering in person would be better. Let's call this Part 1. I got the fish and chicken tender combo with red beans & rice and fries. Side of hush puppies. Total: $26.47 (after tip & .86 credit card charge) The "fish" looked like catfish. Very moist and crisp but also very under seasoned. The batter is seasoned but very light in texture. The moisture of the fish cancels out the breading texture and flavor. The chicken tenders were huge. It's definitely worth the cost. But the breding was crisp. I'm looking for a crunch to my tender and my fish. Seasoning was ok, but it needed every bit of the sauces that came with my meal. Ranch and another sauce-maybe sriracha mayo? My fries were terrible. Seasoning not evenly sprinkled. They tasted underdone and overdone. Fries, not a hit. The red beans & rice was like that! I mean the best red beans I have had in a very long while. 😋 That took some time to let those flavors meld together. That's a hit!! The side of hush puppies was 4 small balls. IDK what I was expecting, but if I get 4 balls for $3, they should be bigger or be so good that they are worth the price. They were really dry, and the flavor was buried by the taste of overcooking, or maybe they were old. Either way, I'm not a fan. I took this meal to go and I got no utensils? I . . . I . . . I just don't know. I will be back. Maybe a bad night? Maybe dining in is better? Either way, check this place out.

Sammy’s Southern Kitchen is a real find. First thing you notice when you walk in - other than the amazing aroma of seafood - is how friendly and welcoming the staff is. They always have a smile, and I do not jest. They’re also incredibly attentive and take of their customers in such a way that we feel at home and at ease. Now - the food! This isn’t your average, “Let’s go get fried fish,” place. You can actually taste the fish, the shrimp, etc., and not just the grease from the fryer! The breading is so delicious and the fish itself is melt in your mouth. And, oh, the crab cakes! The coup de grâce, I tell you. I’ve eaten crab cakes from other places, but there’s something about Sammy’s that’s just different from other places. The breading, the taste, the way the inside is melded together to make the most aromatic - ah! Just trust me, you’ll want to try these when you go. The appetizers are amazing, too. The onion rings…! They taste so good and have that perfect amount of crunch. Dip them in some ranch, and you’ll be in heaven! And, of course, they have far more than just seafood! Their menu is diverse and is sure to be able to satisfy anyone. You really get a bang for your buck, too! Everything is reasonably priced, and you get so much food! Bottom line: if you’re looking for a place to get some seafood - and whatever else have you - where you feel appreciated as a customer, Sammy’s Southern Kitchen is the place to be!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sami’s Southern Kitchen , and it was an experience worth sharing! First, I tried the burger, and I have to say, it was the best burger I’ve ever had. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and every bite was a delight. If you’re a burger enthusiast, you simply must try it! Next, I had the fried green tomatoes, which were equally impressive. They had a perfect crunch and just the right amount of seasoning, making them a delightful treat. The okra was another standout. It was cooked to perfection, with a texture that was both crispy and tender. Sami’s really knows how to elevate this southern staple. Lastly, I had the fish, and I can confidently say it’s the best in St. Louis. The quality was evident in every bite – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Overall, Sami’s Southern Kitchen offers an exceptional dining experience. From the high-quality ingredients to the expert preparation, every dish is a testament to their commitment to great southern cuisine. Highly recommended!

On Sept. 2nd I visited this establishment after looking at their website & reading just about every review on the site. I can honestly say that all of the reviews were 100% accurate!!! From the moment U walk inside U are pleasantly greeted & U honestly feel like they are there just for U & are eager to serve U. I ordered the (2pc Fish & 6 Shrimp Meal) & my sides were French Fries & Coleslaw. My meal was served to me piping hot & I was impressed at how light the batter was on everything. The Catfish Filets honestly tasted like fresh from the lake Channel Catfish, very flaky & that nice lake flavor. Sami's is the 1st place that I have been, that when they say "Jumbo Shrimp" they give U Jumbo Shrimp!!!, not Baby Shrimp or Medium Size Shrimp & their Shrimp were very meaty. They were perfectly seasoned & the portion was extremely reasonable. The Coleslaw was good with a nice crunch to it, but I would've liked it a lil' more creamy & a lil' sweet. The Steak Fries were alright, they were not seasoned & I honestly think & would've preferred a Battered & Seasoned French Fry or Seasoned Shoestring French Fries. I also tried some Fried Green Tomatoes which were outstanding!!!, piping hot, perfectly seasoned & the battery was very light & not heavy. Their Crab Cakes were good with not alot of breadcrumbs in the filling, but they could be over the top if they used "Real" Crab Meat instead of the imitation Crab. Again the breading was very light & well seasoned. The Owner checked on us numerous times & asked us how everything was. It's nice to see an Owner of a establishment really take pride in his business. Sami's Southern Kitchen is a 5 Star Restaurant!! definitely worth trying & enjoying!! The prices are very reasonable, food is great, & service is 1st Class, they go out of their way to satisfy U the Customer. I also ordered a Chocolate-Banana Cake To-Go & it was good, but tasted more like Chocolate Pound Cake as my piece didn't have much of a Banana flavor to it at all. My Mother has searched for yrs for a place that had Fried Shrimp like her Mother used to make when she was a young girl & Sami's is the 1st & only place that she has found that had them like her Mother used to make, with that good Shrimp flavor to them & not alot of heavy batter. They were so good, that she ordered a 12pc Shrimp To-Go. Sami's Southern Kitchen will hopefully be here for a longgggg time & I am hoping & praying that they will open one in the Maryland Heights area with the number of vacant restaurant buildings available & perfect for a Sami's... I can't wait to return for more great food...

Ate here tonight for the first time. Greeted right when we walked in the door. There was four of us. They gave us menus to take to our table (we sat where we wanted. ) We figured out our order then went to the counter and placed our order. We ordered the family fish dinner - 12 pieces of fish and 2 large sides for $29.99. We got fries and cole slaw as our sides, and ordered a side of hush puppies. Food came out really quick and was hot. The girl that kept coming to our table to check on us was super nice, SUPER polite, friendly, and very appreciative when we told her we appreciated her excellent service. We got plenty of fries for four of us. The slaw was supposed to be a large side but was only two small containers, we each could have eaten one (too small for four people. We each got about 3 tablespoons of slaw.) The side of hush puppies was 10 hush puppies for $8 and they were good but very small. 3 of them are the size of one at Captain D's. So the four of us each got two hush puppies, with two left over. We all wanted more. The fish was really good, the slaw was good (creamy, good flavor,) the hush puppies were good. We loved all the food. We just wished the large slaw was really large (family size) for four people and not so small, and that the hush puppies were a lot larger and more quantity. It was cold in there so we asked them if they could turn off the ceiling fan by us and they did. They played really good music, classic and good, and not too loud either. All of the staff was super friendly, we loved that! They genuinely care and want your feedback. It's evident they are there to serve good food and want to please their customers and do a good job. That they did! We will definitely be back, and will share our positive experience with others. I wish I would have thought to take pictures of the food. I'd you love fried fish, you will not be...
