First time being here impact and impression: The st.peters location. Wife and i decided to try the new place, as we ordered we our order was taken by a girl with pinkish hair younger maybe 20 most No smile, no hello, can i help you or anything greeting wise. I understand working with public can and is sometimes stressful , it wasnt busy few were dinning. If you can't greet the people that pay your wage and make the income for the place you work maybe find a different position or another job.. I had the pulled chicken sandwich, wife had the brisket. First impression of the chicken : it was moist , tender ,lightly smoked if thats what you like its for you. Smoked Bbq is like shoes everyone's got a style and comfort level they prefer i personal like a more prominent smoke and season taste that the sauce i choose compliments. It didnt do that for me but its still a good cook. The sauces : i asked if i could taste the various of the selection before ordering with the meat the girl wasnt very accommodating or perhaps didn't understand so i had to explain several times , but so i request several from the selection to try not knowing if it came as a extra charge or not. I personal like the spicy blueberry 👍 wife had the pineapple but likes the blueberry better also. If you go here , and get the sandwich the garlic toast its served with kinda takes the taste away from the meat and order the meat on the side to fix your own or it will be extremely soggy on one side. The brisket was moist and tender wife described it as having a liquid smoke flavor vs a natural overall just ok. The creamy cole slaw is good and the mac n cheese is similar to other Bbq places not bad but not different or unique. The cost is comparable to the surrounding area of food places, proportions are fair to just right. Overall cleanliness good , bathroom in mens dirty floors and definitely outdated . counter where the tea and soda probably need to improved for durability maybe put a urethane natural side cut log for more rustic. They should have done more improvements before opening at least replace the dive bar doors on the bathroom hanging of the hinges. My rating 3 for overall impact and impression needs...
Read more*Update The owner reached out to me and made up for the bad experience. The food was really great each time I’ve had it including the during the experience I describe below. I give credit to the owner for caring enough to reach out to me and I’m glad I gave Heavy Smoke another chance. I will continue to eat there.
Terrible service and dishonest portions of meat. Missing 2 lbs of food. We ordered takeout for the first time at Heavy Smoke on a Saturday Evening. Ordered $110 of food including Ribs, 1.5 lbs of pork, 1.5 pounds of brisket, wings and a pork steak dinner. When given our order, i checked it and asked if the portions of pork and brisket were correct, they seemed light. I was assured that it was correct. When i got home, i weighed it on my scale and we were shorted a pound of each. 2 pounds of meat were missing. I called and they offered me a $25 gift card but no refund. After realizing I paid $33 for everything I called back. After talking with the owner, they "approved" me for a $35 gift card, and did not offer a refund for the missing food. Considering I did not receive what I ordered and did not have enough food to feed my guests, I am unhappy with a gift card. They did not even attempt to make it right. I emailed them about my frustrations the next day and never heard back from them. I even included a picture of the portion of the pork which was only 6.28 oz on my digital food scale. Terrible service and if they only give 6 oz per half pound portion, it is dishonest portions. I never asked for free food, just to be treated fairly. They never got back to me, which is why I am writing this review. I would not hit them with one star for service and dishonest portions if they would have gotten back to me. I waited 3 days for a reply before writing...
Read moreI came here with my 2 kids. I ordered the 3-meat platter. To be honest, the food is overrated and overpriced- $24 for my plate. I got the brisket, burnt ends and ribs with tater tots and mac. The meats were decent but nothing mouth watering!! I love my food hot, like right off the smoker kinda hot. But instead, the meats were just room temperature hot. I have to admit the ribs were good but they didn’t come in a slab-style that I am accustomed to. I was disappointed in the fact that they didn’t have baked beans, corn bread and coleslaw. Furthermore , the portions were pretty skimpy . On top of that they forgot my Texas toast! Adding insult to an all- ready mediocre dinning experience, I was still hungry so I went up to order the nachos. The young lady at the counter (didn’t get her name, blonde in her late teen) took my order. She was being rude and condescending to say the least when I asked her if there was an up charge to add the meat. Not only she didn’t answer me, but she was just acting irritated that I had the audacity to ask her such a question. How dare I to ask her such a question when I could just read the menu myself. She started adding $1.50 for the meat and $.50 for the jalapeños….. what’s up with all these up charges. This is a turn off for me!! I felt like I was being nickel and dime to death for an order of nachos. I know you have a lot of loyal followers and supporters but however, for me and my family, we will not be coming back anytime soon. There are too many barbecue restaurants in st. Louis and St Charles for me to be unsatisfied with the food and to be mistreated this way. ...
