We were having a Celebration of Life next door to Snibos on August 8th, 2020. It seemed convenient to go there after the service, so I called them on Wednesday to alert them that there would be approximatley 20-30 folks coming in for lunch after the service. I was told that was not a problem, and she appreciated my calling ahead to give them a head's up.
Then, on Saturday, we arrived there at noon, and there were 2 large tables together in anticipation of our party. That was great! We all came in and sat down and were given menus. The place was full but not what I'd call overcrowded, lots of kids and families.
My first "uh-oh" moment came when our waitress announced it was her 3rd day there, and she had to keep going to the kitchen to ask questions about a specific beer that was ordered, things like that. No problem, she was very pleasant, and we all settled in chatting to wait for our lunches....and waited...and waited....and waited.... It was nearly 2 hours before we got our food, and many of us had plans elsewhere. The food came, it was very good, and there wasn't any problem with the food that anyone in our party mentioned to me. Since I was the one paying for it all, I was mortified that everyone had to wait for such an inordinate amount of time, especially since there was a 93 year old who sat outdoors, for the whole time, because she has concerns about crowds indoors and Covid. It was hot out there, and although they placed fans in the outdoor seating area, it was hot and humid and having been at a funeral, most were in black. Not good to sit out there for 2 hours in the heat!
When the bill came, I noted that we had gotten bottled water (and a glass of tap water would have been just fine, BTW) and they were $2.75 each! Just one more thing that served to really annoy me, when all was said and done.
The delay was NOT the fault of the waitress who had only been there for 3 days, it was the kitchen, who, having been made aware of the situation, apparently did not think it prudent to get maybe one more cook in for the lunch shift. There were 2 waitresses on duty; there may have been another, but I personally never saw any. 2 waitresses to handle a relatively full restaurant was really pushing it. I mentioned my displeasure to the other waitress, and she kind of shrugged and said, "well, we had a big group from the sports complex come in right before you, sorry!" They probably beat us in there by 5 minutes at the most.
I'm betting that big group from the sports complex did not call 3 days prior and let them know THEY were coming. I guess first come, first served for sure and also means it was more important to get them taken care of; there did not seem to be a huge delay with THEIR meals. They were in and out of there while we were still waiting for our lunch to arrive.
I was really disappointed, because the choice of venue was mine and I felt like I let everyone down by choosing a place that made us wait from twelve thirty (when the orders were finally placed) to quarter to three for our lunch. I've been to Snibo's before, but I won't be back, and certainly would not recommend it if you don't feel like spending your entire day sitting in a sports bar, or outside in the Missouri heat and humidity.
The final straw was, the total, with tax, came to $544.79. Under the subtotal and tax, was a notation, "cash savings" of $17.91... well that would have been some comfort after everything, but if you add those sums, it comes to $562.70 which was the balance due. I did pay by debit card, and tipped our waitress $104 in cash, because I always tip cash, having been a bartender, so I do know a little bit about this. There was no mention of saving $17.91 if we paid in cash, they just added this amount to the total. That seems a bit underhanded, on top of everything else.
Sorry, Snibo's. I live very close to you but you won't get to piss me off again, once was quite enough, thank you very much. 8-28-20 Thanks, no. Buffet during a pandemic: Wouldn't be...
Read moreOk, normally I hate writing bad reviews, but this time I felt like I had to. When we arrived, there was a sign that said to seat ourselves. No problem there. There were about 7 tables that were seated and only 1 waitress. Again, no problem. She took our drink order right away and we started to look at the menu. We placed the order and she walked away. Now, if you knew that your kitchen was backed up and behind, wouldn't you have said so when you took our order? 15-20 min later, she comes back and says that they are out of fries and that we need to make an alternative selection. Again, not a problem. AN HOUR LATER, our food finally arrives. At this point, we have been there almost an hour and a half. I said that I need a to go box immediately since my lunch break was long over. No apology for the long wait for our food or even mention of the wait. Instead, we get an immediate attitude. Long story short, if the kitchen is backed up and behind, not a problem, but you should definitely let the customers know ahead of time so that they can either expect the wait, or go elsewhere if they don't have the available...
Read moreREALLY wanted to give 5-stars, however 3 is what was earned, at best. Used to go there for dinner in the past and ordered takeout often. We, heard that there was a change in ownership and name, so we went this past Wednesday night to check it out. It took almost 2 hours for us to eat from start to finish and that was with us arriving at 7:30. We ordered 2 apps (GCB & Buffalo fries- both delish), drinks for a family of 5 (2 adults/3 kids), and our entrees (2 salads, a cheeseburger/fries, kids chicken wings, and a horrible steak sandwich). We were kind and patient. When our server (who was also doubling as the bartender) wasn’t hanging with his friends and serving bar counter guests, he was very nice, if he remembered that our table and the table next to us, were his guests. Other guests were getting up and refilling their own drinks from the soda fountain. There appeared to be about 6 people working and it was NOT busy. Disappointed in our experience and the lack of care and attentiveness and the also that...
