Plato's Closet St. Peters — Local services in Saint Peters

This store is a disgrace to consumers everywhere. The staff is condescending and rude. I was offered $5 for jeans from Torrid brand new with tags. When they just posted yesterday that they were desperate for Plus size. I brought in a bag with 10 items. 2 velour joggers used once and in PERFECT condition, Old Navy jeans BNWT, 1 pair of BNWT Torrid jeans that retail for $100, 5 BNWT tags bras from Lane Bryant and Torrid and two gently used plus size tops. They attempted to buy the 2 pair of jeans and the 2 joggers for $19.10. The jeans alone are retailed at $130 dollars. The manager I suspect said “we offer 60-70% below retail.” Okay so when did $5 become 60% of $100? The math ain’t mathin’. Then she attempted to not let me remove my DL# from their sheet, rolling her eyes saying “you can’t do anything with a DL#.” I tore it off and replied “You can and it’s my personal information, I’ll do as I please.” How did she know my DL# wasn’t my SSN???? I will never return here again, I will be using my social media presence to spread awareness around this company and store. You are low balling people, then pricing the merchandise 10x the price you bought it at. It’s highway robbery. Not to mention the grotesque display of customer service; I wasn’t aware that eye rolling, condescending behavior was appropriate for someone in customer service, let alone, what appeared to be, the supervisor at the time. I will not return and HIGHLY recommend going to another store like Revolve in Wentzville or Uptown Cheapskate right across the highway from this awful establishment....

I have been shopping at Plato's for years, despite the fact that the employees are rude and the store is a complete mess. I've seen more organization at the Goodwill outlet than I have at any Plato's Closet. But I have always been able to find, what I call "diamonds in the rough" because that is exactly what that store is, rough.

I recently brought in a bag full of year old clothes (mostly dresses) all worn a MAXIMUM of twice each. As the clerk began going through my bag, I noticed that she wasn't actually looking at the clothes, but simply moving them around to make it look like she did. While I was waiting for her to call my name after she thumbed through my clothes, I poked around the store to see if anything caught my eye. A couple of things did happen to stand out to me, pieces of clothing that were in my bag to sell, only difference being thw sizes.

When it was finally time to retrieve my items that they couldn't take, I find out they "couldn't take anything" because it "was out of style". I didn't even bother arguing with the clerk because 1) she is probably only 16 years old and doesn't know what to do with an upset customer and 2) her attitude when telling me they couldn't take anything wasn't worth my time. This store is a joke ran by a bunch of teenagers with no customer service skills. I dropped my daughters off to do a little shopping on Sunday. It is posted on the door that they close at 6pm on Sundays so I told the girls I would be back by 6 to pick them up. I arrived and parked out front at 5:45pm….there was a long line and I only counted 3 workers. At 6pm a worker went and locked the doors as I sat outside and watched my daughters standing in line with 4 items a piece. At 6:20pm my daughters were STILL waiting in line so I went and knocked on the door. A young lady (teenager) cracked open the door and said we only have 1 register open and the women at the counter has bought 2 bins full of items so it will take awhile and proceeded to shut the door in my face. I waited furiously outside as this grown woman (customer) basically mocked my daughters and said oh they knew I had a lot they should have let you go before me!!!! Long story short my daughters set their items down and walked out of the store empty handed and feelings hurt. The staff was careless and refused to cash them out!!!!!!! We will NEVER give them our business again and for other people’s sake I hope they get better at customer service. Never leave teenagers in charge!!!!...
