Okay, this is going to be a long one, but I promise it’s worth the read! I have so much love for this place.
First, the location: it’s tucked into the cutest, most charming little area. I highly recommend taking a stroll around before or after your gelato. It’s the kind of spot that invites you to slow down and just enjoy the moment. Peaceful, cozy, and full of character.
The shop itself is just as lovely. It’s beautifully designed with thoughtful little details everywhere you look. My favorite part? The tiny kids’ table near the register. It’s adorable and so meaningful. Mr. Mauro, the owner, told me he specifically added it because kids rarely have a space of their own in restaurants, and he’s absolutely right! High chairs don’t count! Watching little ones gather around it with their gelato is just the cutest thing.
Now… let’s talk about the gelato. It is incredible! Clean, organic, and made with real, high-quality ingredients. You can taste the difference. There’s nothing artificial here, and that’s rare to find these days.
Here are the flavors I tried (yes, I tried a lot and I’d do it again!): • Hazelnut – Pure hazelnut flavor, no Nutella sweetness. You can taste the crushed nuts. So good. • Pinco Pallino (Pineapple + Coconut) – Refreshing and tropical. The coconut milk is homemade! • Salted Caramel – A beautiful balance of salty and sweet. Unexpected and delicious. • Tahitian Vanilla – Rich, unique, and perfect for vanilla lovers. • Dark Chocolate – Decadent, not too sweet, deeply chocolatey. • Pistachio – Earthy and nutty with real pistachio pieces. • Mayan Chocolate – Spicy and chocolatey, so different, so good. Unforgettable flavor! • Tiramisu – My personal favorite. I don’t think I can eat regular tiramisu ever again. This flavor is tiramisu, in gelato form, and it is divine! • Stracciatella – A creamy vanilla base with bits of dark chocolate. Classic and perfect. • Mint Stracciatella – Tastes like fresh mint. So refreshing! • Honey Lavender – Soft, floral, and dreamy. • Lemon Sorbet – Tart and bright, like biting into a fresh lemon.
Whether you’re bringing your kids, friends, family, or just enjoying some solo time; make the trip and treat yourself. Take a walk. Soak in the town. And most importantly… eat the gelato.
To Mr. Mauro: thank you for creating such a warm, thoughtful space and for making the best gelato I’ve ever had. Thank you for putting so much heart into what you do. It shows. You’ve truly made something...
Read moreThis gelateria is authentic - and everything is made from scratch, with the best ingredients (no preservatives, dyes or any of that stuff). The dark chocolate gelato was delicious, as was the rich cream (which had lemon zest which really brightened up the flavor!). We also had a yummy hazelnut! They are only open on Fri-Sun ..and not until 1pm on Fri and Sat - so check the hours before you go! Wonderful owners - very kind and hospitable. Can't wait to go back and try some more flavors!! Just wanted to update this review - we have been going to Vecchio pretty much every weekend since they opened. I usually have the dark chocolate and whatever 'cheesecake' flavor Mauro has on the menu - right now it's peach cheesecake and is SO good! Everything is also GF. Mauro will provide a detailed orientation for those of you visiting for the first time - he is very proud of what he has created - authentic gelato, made with simple organic ingredients, and in amazing combination flavors! In case you are dairy free, there are also yummy sorbets! The shop is lovingly decorated, and Salado is a small town with some fun little shops to browse at! It's definitely worth the...
Read moreAll natural ingredients! That's their focus and emphasis. This parlour was on my list as a "must-have" before leaving the Lone Star State. It was definitely worth the approximately 30-minute drive a some traffic.
They call it True Lav 😍😻 My palette's favorite flavor is their honey lavender. While I got a medium size with three scoops, the distinguishable flavors make you truly appreciate artisanal creativity.
Inside you'll feel a comfy vibe with a few tables for coziness, including a table for babies only - too cute. The piano displayed adds to the traditional feel of an old town in Italy.
We received excellent warm service. You can tell the pride taken in their organic ingredients. There was a lesson or two as well when we discussed the contents. Great gelati!
In addition to gelati, try pairing it with some coffee. Ring the bell on your way out if you loved your serving of real...
