Update 3/27/23*
Excellent problem solving and customer service! I have a friend who has mobility issues and needs to use an electric shopping cart. We went shopping together several weeks ago but they only had one cart and it wasn't charged. We spoke with a lovely lady at customer service and she apologized and said she would figure out what happened. We went shopping again today and there were now 4 or 5 electric carts available and all fully charged. This is a locally owned store with a location in Woodburn and Salem. They managed to get the whole cart issue fixed and even got a couple extra carts for their customers convenience. I believe that they like other stores in the area have a problem with them being stolen. It's just kind of interesting that they can fix the situation quickly but places like Walmart and Safeway can't or won't do the same even though they were made aware of the same issues, repeatedly, over a year ago. Thanks again MegaFoods! Just a reminder it really pays off and helps support your neighbors when you shop locally owned and small businesses!
Update 1-16-23: They offer some incredible discounts via electronic coupons generated by their app. Sadly it continually errors out when trying to set up your account. In turn this makes it impossible to use any coupons. No options for support and no reply to emails. This is kind of a big deal...so until it's resolved, minus 2 stars.
This store has some of the most friendly and helpful employees in Salem. Their prices are quite good especially since they have regular grocery store type setup similar to Safeway. I was pleasantly surprised to find that unlike traditional grocery stores, mega foods prices were better in most instances than those of Walmart and in most cases were significantly lower. Of course they're going to be a few items or types of items that you're going to pay more for simply for the convenience factor like cosmetics or most of the dog foods and cat foods. But as a whole their prices are quite good especially with everything going on and prices increasing almost daily it seems. They have excellent produce and meats as well as their deli department and their bakery which does have a lot of items that you wouldn't find in a regular store. I was even surprised to find daily specials in their meat department etc on items like flank steak, t-bone steak and boneless skinless chicken breasts which were significantly less than Safeway or Walmart. I was happy to find flank steak for $3.99 a pound and boneless skinless chicken breast for $1.99 a pound. These prices are substantially less than Safeway which I shopped to be instacart the other day their flank steaks were well over $18 a pound and their chicken breasts were something the bone-in chicken breath, so not even a good comparison, were over $7 a pound at Safeway. I also found out that they have a pretty cool feature That is quite helpful to the left fortunate in our community or those simply they don't have transportation, that if you spend $35 they will give you a ride home in a van that they have for free. I'm not quite sure on the hours of operation etc but from a couple people I spoke with they said it's a great benefit of shopping there and they said the folks that run that service are very friendly and actually helped load your groceries into the van and they will help you with them to your door when you're done. Very nice service that I was surprised to find and sadly is missing from every other store in the area. Looking forward to shopping...
Read moreI usually shop at wallmart, but I thought I should save up some money and go to food4less(I assumed it's cheaper). I wanted ground beef but I accidentally bought ground beef that mixed with pork. I decided to exchange it for beef. The customer service has professional apparent but no professional service at all. They told me oh, the guy who suppose to be here is in a lunch break wait till he come back :O 12mins later the guy came and asked for recite... I showed him my recite....he asked why do you want to return it? then I told him I do not eat pork... he said well You can't return it..... WHY because we can't resell it. I was like I just bought it few hours a go... Then he said as soon as it leaves the store we do not take it back....then I told him I did not open it, I did not touch it.... just put it back on the shelf and give me ground beef...He was so rude to me with the way he was talking to me where I felt like I was doing something wrong and i need to get the hell out of their store :( so I end up buying ground beef from wallmart :( My advice to you go to wallmart it's crowded might be more expensive I do not know but they are they have the best customer service :D good luck on...
Read moreThis is Salem's best source for ethnic food. They have the largest selection of Mexican and Russian foods that I have found here. Prices are similar to WinCo or Walmart. The store is not kept as "shiny" clean or polished as other groceries though. Biggest drawback is that it's just too small. Don't expect a big selection of frozen or canned foods. But they do have good sized meat and produce departments for a store of this size. The best deals are definitely going to be the sale items, so keep an eye out for them. The only reasons that I didn't score this store higher are the overall size is a bit small for what I would expect, and the cleanliness (but not necessarily the sanitation) is below what can be expected at all other grocery stores here in Salem. In spite of these observations, it is still worth shopping...
