I’m going to start this by saying I love food. I am not a picky eater, and I don’t necessarily have super high expectations. If it’s good, I’m eating it. My boyfriend and I moved to Salem about a year ago and have been looking for “the one” when it comes to Mexican food. This was the next place on our list. It had good reviews and was close to our house. We were seated quickly, and our server was right there to take our drink and dinner order. Things were looking up! When our food came, I can’t even explain the disappointment. I ordered the pollo a la Diabla, and my chicken was so over cooked and hard that I couldn’t swallow it without it hurting my throat. Even at this point, I kept trying to like it. The red sauce tasted like ketchup, and wasn’t spicy. My boyfriend got the steak and shrimp fajitas and was disappointed in the lack of flavor. He didn’t finish his meal and he always finishes his meal. To top it off, when we got the check, there was a service fee of $1.85 just to use my debit card. A service fee? Like really? I haven’t seen one of those in years. I felt so horrible for convincing my boyfriend to go out to dinner and this was what we got. A $70 meal that we barely ate because it was gross. We will not be coming back. Would never recommend this place to anyone who loves Mexican food.

This used to be (4 years ago) a regular place to go. This time, I was just saddened. Service was good as always...when we got to the table. The food however.....clearly needs some help, maybe it's what you order. We got dinner combinations at $16.50 - $18 (the most cost effective item we found) and it's run of the mill Americanized- microwaved mexi food. My tostada was good but that's hard to mess up. My enchilada had almost no sauce and super covered with cheese. Nothing had spice or flavor to it and the rice was dry and lackluster. The combo for my daughter was bland and greasy (she chose the beef taco combo) and, the other half got ground beef enchilada and taco combo....again; no flavor or sauce. Then we get the bill and there is a service fee!!! Seriously?! I would MAYBE get a fee for say a party of 10 or more but, there was 3 of us and no children. Charging that will also effect the tip left behind. Overall, we will not be going back nor do I recommend.

We ate dinner here on a Sunday evening (after taking our kids to Chuck E Cheese right across the lot). Loved the water fountain in the lobby, and all the decor! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. My family and in-laws enjoyed the food. My husband said they might make their own tortillas? I think he saw something. Chips and salsa also came with bean dip! My child had their pizza, and I taste-tested and omg... the dough taste home-made too, but who knows! I loved their chicken soup, but when I discovered the fish tacos were way too spicy for me (due to the Pico de Gallo I guess) they took care of me - great customer service, thank you! We'd love to come back for special occasions. Prices seemed pretty average to me, in this current economy.

My fajitas were burn and it felt as it the servers were more worried about getting tips then listening to what we asked .... I wanted vegetables on my fajitas and the server said that's how they make them inside, and although I said they were burn she said that's how they make them inside. She didn't offer to change for something else....

However I do appreciate the response to this and just hope that they can do a great job with everyone else. Thank you very much.

I did go a second time or a third or many more times but this happened a week ago I weny 5/19/24 and I ordered the 2 spinach tamales with rice and black beans the beans or tamales were spoiled and had a bad taste immediately I started to get a stomach ache 🤒. I didn't want to say anything because my significant other loves to go here for their fresh home made tortillas and his favorite plate. But I had to because of all the people that are vegetarian or vegan and what if someone gets sick 🤢...And what do you think of this my daughter ordered a side of chicken tamale, she didn't like that they didn't say how it was going to be served with sauce and cheese on top... I just thought it was a simple tamal. All the staff said I'm sorry your food was bad I can give you something else when you all know that if you get sick you really can't eat after and said we won't charge your daughters tamal...I won't say anything else be the judge of these!!! The other meals I have ordered here is Chicken mole not bad but to my taste, it is too sweet and spicy and Albondigas soup too salty... I guess it is hard to please someone who is like me the best thing to do is stay home and cook. It's ok I'll still be coming hopefully one day I will find the best thing to eat here. And I put a 3 on the atmosphere because I like the window and I have been here lots of times and never close to a window. Too dark for me. Believe me I'll keep you...

My roommate and I decided to try a new restaurant instead of just going to our usual spots and it was an... interesting experience... Two of the three people on staff that we interacted with were nice, but stiff, one made it so that we will never be returning. Before I get into that, the food was great, rice was a little dry but other than that (which I just mixed with my beans to fix) the portions were large and it was all good. I got the lunch quesadilla plate ($9.99 this is important to the next part of the story) and my roommate got the lunch burrito plate ($13.99 if I remember correctly) we finished our food and received our bill from Miguel which from closer inspection revealed that they were charging us $12.99 for the quesadilla plate but everything else was correct. I brought this up to Miguel who was visibly angry that I brought it up said it was probably just an old menue and stormed up to the front to go look. I don't think we were being rude, I'm usually pretty shy about stuff like this because mistakes happen, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be pointed out so they can fix it in the future. When he came back a few minutes later he brought us back the fixed bill, gave a half hearted apology and glared at me the entire time, when he would even look at me. He genuinely looked like he wanted to throw me out for even bringing it up and even my usually very forgiving roommate noticed. We won't be returning, I understand having a hard day but don't take it out on people who up until that point hadn't made any complaints, let alone treated you...
