Stopped twice in their city within maybe 1 mile. Lack of communication between officers. They claimed 1 different departments despite being a half mile from eachother. I was stopped the 2nd time for a seperate reason, but i went from being stopped by police to being followed by police to being pulled over by police.
Bright side officers were extremely helpful with informational advice. As i only stopped in your town cause a tire blew out.
Ngl worst experience.
And i am a direct descendant of Margaret Scott i thought this was my hood.
Highly recommend steering clear of salem, a little uptight on laws, they dont see the spirit of the law. They see enforcement alone.
Again the officers are nice but if you even so much as sort of look homeless youll be nonstop targeted. Local population and police.
It was only foreign immigrants who helped me. No natural born Citizen of the United States of America helped me.
Also a lady hit me in their town, and I let her go even though she was clearly at fault, I was parked in a broken gas pump with permission of the shell, car off, in park she tried squeezing through two cars instead of backing up, she did a lot of damage to my vehicle. I didnt even get a thank you. I got god bless you, what if im already blessed. Your insurance rate was about to go way up. I let her go cause she was an elder. I REALLY REALLY wanted to report it. So bad, but she got...
Read moreThe human suffering and deaths of homeless people due to the lack of fore thought planning and total indifference by the City of Salem, is truly shocking. I asked a City of Salem worker at a park recently if they considered the fact that the Willamette river rises quickly and already incapacitated homeless people camping close to the river may drown? The worker said "That's inconsequential". When I asked if they then considered all thousands of pounds of garbage going into the river all they could say is they lost their free inmate labor so they don't have the man power to do anything. Ironically the two workers sat in their truck for about 40 minutes around 10AM and literally did nothing at all. In my attempts emailing the Mayor's office numerous times only resulted in a routine notice "Someone will get back to you. It never happened. Weekly more large business offices are on the market in Salem for sale. It is clear this city has become inhospitable to many of it's residents. I for one cannot wait to get...
Read moreMayor Chuck Bennett and the City of Salem welcomed Master Li, Wu-jiu of Beijing, China with a warm reception at the Salem Convention Center on June 13, 2019. Master Li, Wu-jiu is China's leading contemporary brush painter of horses and he donated one of his original brush paintings to the City of Salem. This event was free and open to the public - and featured live music, hors d'oeuvres and a superb collection of international artwork. The food was super delicious and local wines were featured. I had the privilege of attending this event with many notable guests including City Manager - Steve Powers and Councillor Tom Anderson. Great Food / Great People! A fantastic gathering in Downtown Salem that celebrated our amazing diversity, appreciation of the arts and best of the Willamette...
