I felt extremely discriminated against; and there was extreme favoritism for certain employees by the Principal herself Laura Mata:

During my 5 years at Miller Elementary it was clear I was not well-liked by the principal. She attempted to write me up repeatedly for being an introverted-oriented person, and for missing work when I had sufficient hours to cover my absences due to family leaves and personal health issues I was experiencing at the time. I finally had a meeting with her. I discussed my difficult experience in relating with others as I was a Male, Latino Employee, and on the shy-side. She still continued to grade my employee-performance as ‘low’ for having these issues/personality traits, and ended the meeting abruptly stating she had to go and we would discuss this later. We never did—and I still felt discriminated against. She continued to harass and intimidate me through various work-policy punishments not warranted.

My final year, she cut my hours, as well as another fellow employee (another minority) who she did not like. She stated it was due to a budget cut (Completely False). The following year she announced to the entire staff the budget had actually increased for our school and she would be hiring other employees: This was clearly an attempt to deceive me, and to , in my opinion, remove me from working there. She never increased my hours, and I was forced to look for work elsewhere.

Laura Mata was extremely micro-managing; incompetent; and showed gross favoritism to only a few select employees (all whom were white).

This is a poor reflection on our students who attend there and the community that is supposed to be support by...

This school district has an incredibly high drop out rate 23.4% which is a decrease.

The national average cost for public highschool education is $20,000 per student per year. This year SKSD is spending $27,000 per student. Yet Private schools provide better education for around $13,000 per student per year.

Students who attend private schools have dramatically higher graduation rates and test higher. How is this possible with less than half the money? Draw your own conclusions but it's high time for a school voucher program that will cover ANY school whether public, private, or charter.

This is the only way to keep our corrupt unionized school district in line. They absolutely do not care about our children's well being or education- they have made that very clear. Yet people are forced into using a wasteful system. We need school choice.

Parents be warned, Overall, our child's education and safety suffer here. Bullying, kidnapping, school shooters and illness, are a real threat that our children face daily. The schools are so crowded that your child and their needs will be overlooked. The schools are underfunded, the staff are on a power trip, the parents are overlooked, and the children are under supported. Many of Oregon's schools have discontinued assigning homework, understanding that family's need down time together after school and work. Not this district. Worst yet, if you live here, parents have no choice but to send their children off each day for a sub par education knowing the risk, in order to work. The school's schedules are only beneficial for the staff. Late start Wednesdays and an abundance of No School days, force parents to rearrange their work schedules.
