You know what grinds my gears? An unmanned bar, spoiled seafood, a server who ignores you because she doesn't speak English, the bathrooms were absolutely wrecked and EVERY dish had something wrong enough with it that plates were left covered with food, waited 30 minutes for the check that we asked twice for. If you are still reading, here are the details. Date night, 4 couples in all. My hottie and I arrived first, got table for 8, lady comes to take our drink order, the drink menu is tiny.....seriously, like 8 items. I went wild and ordered a long island, which was not on the menu and her eyes rolled so hard I know she could see her spine! She insisted on only speaking in Spanish and the rest of the evening she only spoke to my husband and acted like I wasn't even there. I was the only gringa in the group so I don't know if she was actually being racist or just cant speak any English and thought that would be the best way to get through the dinner? So weird. Still just he and I, we ordered shrimp ceviche, the moment the plate hit the table the overwhelming stench of rotten fish punches us right in the nose. It was completely spoiled. We left the plate, they never asked why we didnt eat any, probably because they knew why. The next 2 couples join us, they get their drinks ordered from the approved list. The blended mango margarita was very fresh and delicious, very thick and fruity, no hint of alcohol. The virgin pina colada was basically a poorly blended fruit smoothy that was too chunky and it had to be "drank" with a spoon. I was not going to deal with the server again for a drink so I walked up to the large bar and nobody was back there. I waited and a young guy comes behind the bar and starts putting cups away. I asked him if there is a bartender and he says "oh, would you like something?", I laughed out loud cause I was not just standing there to hold up the counter. I ordered a whiskey on the rocks. OF COURSE HE IS CONFUSED! He had to go find somebody show him how to make a shot. THERE IS NO BAR TENDER HERE. We all order our food without waiting on the last couple to show. I avoided any seafood because of the ceviche fiasco and went with chicken fajitas. These are about $14, same as most places, but these come with no cream, no guac, no pico de gallo, no lettuce, so plain and ugly. The chicken was cooked through, the veggies were raw and all were covered in burnt seasoning. There was no simmer, no marinade, it was a spice that was shaken over the food at high heat and burned onto every bit of the plate. The rice was extremely over cooked, tasted like it was made the day before and just reheated in garlicky butter. The beans tasted like they were canned and had a very distinct vinegar flavor so that was weird. The last couple showed up, they stuck with drinks only which was smart because they saw there was an entire table of food not being eaten. This was all on a Friday night at 5:30 to 7:30pm, everything should have been screaming fresh. We asked for the check, but 20 minutes later we still had not received it. I saw the server in the back just staring at it a few times and then she would walk away and go work other tables. Finally we asked somebody else who was not our server to get our check, she went over to our sever, they talked and our server handed her our check. 4 couples, 4 tabs, she put it all on one bill and didn't know how to split it so she was just going to leave us sitting there until somebody else did her job. The poor server who was now stuck helping with our check asked each couple 1 by 1 which items they had and eventually we gave up, paid the check as one and had to figure it out ourselves. Do I blame the server? The missing bar keep? The kitchen for burnt or spoiled food? NO! This is 100% management issues. I see so many nice reviews on here but our experience was completely horrific. Salem needs more dining options,...
Read moreBad customer service and the food wasn't that great either. First, it took a very long time for them to come and take our drink order. When the waitres came, she took our food order then our drinks? My husband's michelada was watered down. It didn't have much flavor. My aunt found 1/4 of a whole limon mixed in her ceviche. She almost bit it, confusing it with a slice of avocado. My uncle found a plastic twist tie in his campechana! When we told the waitres about these two incidents she wasn't concerned nor did she offer an apology. She simply said she'd let the cooks know to be more careful. My husband ordered half a dozen shrimp empanadas. When the waitres took the empanadas she told my husband they only had 4. I don't understand why she wouldn't advice him of such issue prior to bringing out the food. Yet, on the bill there was a full charge for the half a dozen of them! What's even worse the waitres seemed rather annoyed when my husband pointed it out to her. I wouldn't recommend this...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of dining at a Mariscos Las Islas De Salem seafood restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was welcomed by a warm, vibrant atmosphere that instantly made me feel like I was on the coast of Mexico. The menu offered an impressive variety of dishes! Every bite was perfectly cooked and bursting with authentic flavor. The service was outstanding. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations and checking in at just the right times. The drinks were also a highlight — I had a house-made margarita with fresh lime juice and a spicy rim that paired beautifully with the meal. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, and the entire dining experience felt like a mini-vacation. Whether you’re a seafood lover or just looking to explore the vibrant flavors of coastal Mexico, this restaurant is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be...
