Big 5 Sporting Goods — Local services in Salinas

I never write reviews, BUT this is the exception! My experience was just horrible! Not based on the products they sell but because of the customer service. I went and wanted to exchange some shoes, the cashier was just rude and so was the manager. He said someone was going to help me and i stood there for about 5 minutes and then he said that i had to take my receipt to the shoe section and someone would help me. So I walked over and found NO ONE there to help me. I waited for a while and after getting very annoyed I walked over to the register and saw all the people just hanging around the register! So I asked if anyone would help me, which took another 5 minutes of waiting! There were more people there and they weren't being helped either! A lady asked if they had any pink football socks and the cashier and manager said they were all out! With out even checking! After i was all set to leave the girl at the register scanned my item and then rudely threw the scanner down on the counter. I was really annoyed with the service here! I really haven't gotten this bad of a service anywhere else!! I will not be going back to say the least! They should really consider giving some customer service classes to...

Big 5 Sporting Goods is one of my go-to spots for sports gear and outdoor clothing. The prices are excellent, really competitive compared to other stores, and the quality of the apparel feels rugged and durable, which I love. The selection is also great; you can find just about anything you need for a weekend adventure or pickup game. My only small gripe is that the store could be a bit cleaner at times — you’ll sometimes see items on the floor — but honestly, for a busy location near a mall with families constantly coming through, it’s understandable.
