Michaels — Local services in Salinas

It's nice and organized and clean they are not that friendly with customers and best to not go there and actually take your time looking at everything or your gonna end up getting that so inconspicuous undercover who thinks they are so invisible and that they don't look so obvious when they follow you around nonstop and don't even have a cart or hand basket or any items in their possession what so ever and are literally just following your every step thinking they are gonna catch your stealing I guess. It's just sad that it's like this when a customer can't even just enjoy the merchandise and check things out while also thinking if the project's that they could maybe do with this or that or maybe take a few pics to help remember something that they liked or want next time or give them a idea of the next DIY but you can't without someone following you or multiple people watching from a far that is steady eyeballing you the entire time your in the store, with that serious problem and the extremely high prices they have is the only reason I gave it the 3 stars because when you find a styrofoam ball that's cut in half that's not even the size of a small basketball and cost you I think it was $6.99 each it's crazy for...

Went there to buy a paint canvas and paint brushes with a friend and two minutes after entering and walking around the employees called out over the speaker system to have security walk the floor. Mind you WE WERE DOING NOTHING SHADY. Just looking around. Then 10 minutes later they did it again. When we went to pay for our stuff the snobby cashier said she wanted to look in my friends purse and so my friend said ok. She had nothing to hide. The cashier then asked about a couple things she had in her purse and if they came from the store. I was getting so pissed off at this point I just had to walk out before I lost it. Then the cashier made my friend wait for 45 minutes while she checked the cameras and watched our entire route thru the store and when she came back and said she didn't see us steal anything my friend demanded an apology. And this is what the cashier said "I'm sorry but it happens all the time". Unbelievable. I will never walk in that Michaels or any other probably and will tell anyone who wants to listen to do the same. I guess apparently it's ok for their employees to act like that. I would have rated it no stars but the option wouldn't Let me....

Any time I'm in need of art supplies, I will usually buy online (as I can be pretty specific in what I need) or go out to Palace Art Supplies in Santa Cruz. But in a pinch or sake of immediacy, I make my way to my local Michael's and browse around.

The store is always clean with helpful staff. I've never had a bad experience here or any problems but what I have seen sometimes is diminishing number of supplies in stock. Some items that were available before, they just don't stock anymore. Or it may be in the system but just have none in stock.

One major tip I do have is ALWAYS check the website for a coupon: Micheal's tends to charge pretty close to MSRP for items so if you know you need to get an item there in a pinch, make sure to use that store coupon.
