Decent theater. They usually have most of the mainstream movies. Prices are too high in my opinion especially for the area, particularly the concessions which are really expensive. Seats are ok but definitely could be more comfortable. Usually pretty clean and staff there are always nice. Screens and sound are on par with most major theaters. RPX is nice but not what I would call astounding, and again overpriced. I wish they would participate in some more of the one-off events like showings of classic movies and ghibli movies etc. Also think it would be nice if they had at least one premium theater with reclining seats and such. With a few minor upgrades and some better prices I would rate much higher but overall not a bad theater.
Edit: I'm not sure why but things have definitely started to go downhill at this theater lately. The last couple of times we've gone the popcorn was really stale and the soda was near flat and they have this really annoying new policy where you have to pick your seat at the box office. I can understand choosing your seat for a big launch or something but having to do it each time is really annoying because it slows down the line horribly (waited 20 mins to get tickets) and it makes people cram in around you even when you get there early when half the theater is empty because they now have assigned seats. I dropped my rating by one star because they are heading in the wrong direction even though there are positives about this place still. If I were to base my rating off my visit last night it would be 1 star. If it doesn't get any better with quality of concessions, price of tickets and concessions (maybe a discount movie night idk), and this horrible new seat selection I might just go to the independent theater in Cambridge...
Read moreUpdate 4/8/23 - The experience has somehow gotten worse. Instead of opting to pay the equivalent of an extra child's ticket in "convenience fees," I decided to instead buy tickets at the theater. With no clear indication of how to purchase tickets, we wandered the lobby until we found two kiosks. Both were out of order. Went to the customer service desk and no one was there. After wandering aimlessly for 5 more minutes trying to figure out what to do, an employee told us to purchase tickets at the concessions counter. When I finally was able to purchase tickets, the ticket price at the theater was more than it was online, making the total cost of all tickets about the same as online with the "convenience fee" added on.
This particular trip only required me to sit through 20 minutes of commercials. Two of which were for the actual theater. Which is kind of odd considering I am already there and they have no competition.
If the movie theaters want to complain about business, it's not because of COVID. It's not because of streaming. It's because you make the whole experience about as fun as a trip to the DMV.
Previous Review - Overpaid for a movie ticket because there's no competition in town. On top of that was subjected to over 30 minutes of commercials before the...
Read moreGoing out to see a movie is a rare treat for me because it frankly costs too much now, so having a bad experience really sticks in my head. Went to the opening of “Sound of Freedom “ on 7/3/23 and was extremely disappointed in this Regal.
There was no one at the front selling or checking tickets - you could literally walk in and go see whatever movie you wanted without paying. I had pre-purchased my tickets and only found out how to check in by asking someone behind the food counter…there were no signs or instructions anywhere and no one in the lobby to ask. I guarantee many attended and never paid. Seems an odd way to run a business!
Also, there was no popcorn made. I waited several minutes and gave up. It took 25 minutes of previews and 2 more trips out to the concession counter to finally be able to buy a medium bag of popcorn. There’s no excuse for this. You can clearly see when you’re getting low. How difficult is it to start popping more before you run out? It’s not like the theater was packed and overwhelmed by customers on a Monday afternoon.
And have you EVER been in a hot theater? I haven’t…until that day. The AC worked fine throughout the building, but it sure didn’t in that theater!
All of these things left a bad taste in my mouth regarding Regal. I doubt I’ll...
