Navigating any airport, including the Salt Lake City International Airport, can be a whirlwind, and sometimes, crucial items like a phone charger slip your mind. That is where a store like iStore comes in. I recently found myself in that exact predicament, realizing mid-layover that I had left my charging brick at home. The iStore at SLC airport is sleek and well-organized, with Apple products and other tech accessories neatly displayed. They offer what I consider "electronic travel essentials," such as various chargers, adapters, headphones, and portable power banks. The convenience of having these items readily available in the airport is undeniable, especially when you are in a bind. However, I quickly discovered that this convenience comes at a "full price." I needed a specific type of USB-C charger, and while they had it, the cost was significantly higher than what I would pay at an electronics store outside the airport. This is a consistent theme with airport retail, where the premium for immediate access is a given. You are paying for the solution to an immediate problem. I also noted a "limited selection" of products. If you are looking for the latest model of a specific gadget or a wide array of brands, you might be disappointed. They stock the most popular and necessary items, but anything beyond that is unlikely to be found. For instance, while they had Apple AirPods, they did not have every color or special edition. Despite the high prices and limited inventory, the iStore proved incredibly "helpful if you forgot a charger." The staff was efficient, and I was able to quickly purchase what I needed and get back to my gate without missing my flight. While I prefer to be prepared, it is good to know that a lifeline like iStore exists for those unexpected travel...
Read moreI understand that customer service isn’t always easy for everyone. I’ve been traveling for three days and, unfortunately, I forgot my Apple Watch charger. I took responsibility for my mistake and asked an associate in the store if I could charge my watch. She agreed, but then a manager in this particular store abruptly stopped me and rudely asked me to stop charging my Apple Watch. His reason was liability, even though my watch was charging. He abruptly walked away as if there was no conversation to have.
As a note, this particular charger didn’t have a display on it because I didn’t want to damage a display product. I wasn’t asking for much; I just wanted some help for a weary traveler. If you’re wondering if this manager represents high levels of service or the Apple brand, he certainly didn’t demonstrate that with me. I wouldn’t recommend this store to anyone. If there was a zero, I...
Read moreKeep on walking and do not stop at this store. The staff is very rude and not helpful. We were looking for Apple brand chargers for our iPhone 14 and they had no lighting connector to USBC cords but they only had USBC blocks 🤷🏻♂️🤯. Okay. Fine, inventory can be an issue but the staff continued to be condescending, arrogant and rude. Apparently no matter what iPhone you have they do not have solution and the staff will make you feel like you don’t belong in there store. We walked down to a little Kiosk and the staff there were and are very helpful. Plenty of...
