Very upset - took in my friend to buy pasteles because she really wanted some to share with her family for Christmas. They charged her $35/ dz and were 1/2 the size of what my grandma used to make and sell them them for. Most of the time both my grandma’s only made and gave them away to family and friends because that’s what the holidays were all about. I can not believe how the prices have increased and the products have gotten so darn skimpy. People should really be ashamed of themselves charging so much for virtually next to nothing in return. I really wish I would’ve learned more about traditional cooking and culture when I was younger because I’m truly missing it now. (mind you my hands are small I’m only 4’11ā€)

This store is a gem when you’re looking for international products (food wise). It’s a little on the pricier side but you have to know what to get here and what not to. I Love coming here

They have Jamaican cake, Coquito and sweet fresh plantains/cimarron.

My son and I went today and to those complaining about pastele cost: do you not know how long it takes to make them and all the ingredients needed? I had no issue with the price and it was worth it. Plus they are usually made for the Christmas time. So buying anything off season maybe a little more. Yet let's forget all that. They tasted so good. No complaints from me and I'm just happy I found some that weren't in a Goya box at HEB. So many Adobo selections too. My son and I weren't treated rudely by the man who helped us and I don't care if he's Asian, white, Rican or Mexican, he was helpful to us. Love this place and definitely going...

Just called to ask if they sell 3 certain traditional Caribbean food items. The woman who answered had trouble understanding what I was asking for. It was obvious English wasn't her 1st language, so I spoke clearly and spelled one word she might not have recognized (it was new to me, too). She was very rude from the moment she said hello, very short-answered, and (because I had already asked for 2 things she doesn't sell) she hung up on me as I was speaking the 3rd and final request like she just didn't have the time of day for me. I had never been here before and...
