This was my first time at this restaurant. Because this restaurant is so close to Ft. Sam Military Base, I asked if they support our troops and have an appreciation discount. The young lady said, "No, why should we?" Then she proceeded to say, "We have enough business and don't need more." El Charro also passes the 3% fee for credit card use on to the consumer. I still don't know why Texas Representatives voted for this and allow restaurants to pass this fee on to the consumer. Most restaurants don't tell the consumer about this additional charge. This was my first and my last time to support this independent business. I usually support small businesses but when they don't support our US Military and ask "why should we," then I will not give my money to them nor support them with reviews. Mexico Lindo on Harry Wurzbach, Las Palapas on Austin Highway, and Bennie's on Walzem Road support our US Military and I will continue to support these restaurants, but not El Charro. The food was not...
Read moreToday during my lunch day it is June 6. It was at 1 o’clock. I took a lunch break in the drive-through. I ordered one taco and I almost waited almost 15 minutes and not even once that they apologize for for them taking long for one she chat on taco I honked at the Person at the drive-through ask him for a water and he was very nice to give me a couple water the lady after him open the window and she told me that the water wasn’t free that I need to pay $.50 and I told her out of courtesy they should’ve gave me a couple of water for waiting in the hot and she told me well if you’re hot You need to come inside very rude lady. I did not know that they treat customers that way so I highly recommend that no one goes there. I called and asked the manager. Nobody knows the name of the manager. Nobody knows the name of the supervisor I called and I asked what was the name of the lady at the drive-through nobody seems to know her...
Read moreCareful. They take tour order before you get a chance to look at the menu. They charge an extra $1.00 after 10am for breakfast tacos, even on the weekend. No mention of this when they take your order, just when you pay the bill. If you’re going to take an order from people and not mention a surcharge of nearly 50% per taco, you’re acting in a deceptive way. With the after 10am surcharge the breakfast tacos are poor value for money here. Try Chapala for equal quality but lower prices, or Maci’s for same prices but far superior quality (and Theory Coffee as a bonus!)
Maybe it’s accidental, but the surcharge and failing to mention it is still dishonest. No excuse now though, this is a public feedback. Clarify your prices change throughout the day or present customers a menu to order from that documents the current price at the...
