SCAM ALERT! My friends and I decided to enjoy cold noodles to beat the heat, and while the food was great, the billing experience was a huge disappointment. When I went to the front to pay as told by my server, they simply asked for my table number and my card--without showing me the bill first. After the transaction was completed, I noticed on the receipt that they had charged a POS provider fee which is about 3.8% of the total bill. There were no signs or warnings about this charge, and no one mentioned it during the payment process. When I called to ask about the fee, the manager told me it was "unavoidable" because of a new payment machine. Worse, they couldn't explain why the fee wasn't disclosed to customers and suggested I contact the machine provider myself! This lack of transparency is unacceptable. If you're dining here, watch out for hidden fees.
The owner's response stating that "this fee helps cover the costs associated with processing payments" is completely baffling. It seems they're referring to the fee for their POS (Point of Sale) provider. Why are customers being asked to cover a basic operational expense that every restaurant needs to manage? A POS system is a fundamental tool for running a business, and it's unreasonable to pass this cost onto diners.
These kinds of charges should be built into the menu prices, not tacked on as an additional fee. This practice comes across as both confusing and unfair. Because of this, I won't be returning to this restaurant, and I would advise others to be aware of this extra,...
Read moreBest Korean food in town. They've opened the dining room with a variety of precautions, which are enforced. It's obviously a family owned restaurant and not fancy, but the food is spot on. Our office loves Korean and we've tried a bunch of Korean restaurants but we always come back to Koreana. For one thing, they always have soju. For another, the food is just really, really good. Since not all the staff has great English, the food can be intimidating for people who are unfamiliar with it, however, the menu has better descriptions than many Korean restaurants.
The lunch portions are generous and the lunch specials are a good value. They have a good variety of dishes at lunch and a very extensive dinner menu. Because I wasn't familiar with Korean a few years ago, I've now run through most of the menu and my favorite is the beef brisket soup (a little spicy but insanely delicious). The kim chee fried rice is great, too, as is the du bol ki (I'm not sure on this spelling, it's advertised as Korean Rice Cakes) for folks that like spicier food.
Kid friendly. The staff are always super nice to my three despite the inevitable...
Read moreI have always experienced great service at this restaurant, with the exception of my two most recent visits. I ordered spicy pork bulgogi, but they gave me beef bulgogi. The first time they made the mistake, I was a dining in, and they fixed it for me. However, my second time was for dining out, and I called to place the order. I repeated myself two times, arrived at the restaurant, and asked them if it was spicy pork (because on the notes, I saw a huge BF sign), and the checkout person said yes. I was charged about $42 for both of my “spicy pork,” just to get home and realize that I was given beef bulgogi. I was greatly disappointed because I drove a total of one hour and twenty minutes to get a hold of the spicy pork. When I called, I was more disheartened by the fact that the lady asked if I was going to return, I explained that I live far and had an event that night, and all she stated was, “Oh okay, sorry.” I was also asked if I had touched my food, which confused me a bit because I wasn’t sure what the intentions were behind that question. Needless to say, but I won’t be returning… it was one of my favorite Korean...
