I normally have no problem with anyone at EZ Pawn. In fact, I prefer EZ Pawn to Cash America because of how easy it is to get cash when I need it and the customer service is usually on point.
That being said, I went to your location on Nacogdoches in San Antonio last night to get a loan on something I've gotten multiple loans on in 2024/2025. I normally deal with a female at this location (her name escapes me at the moment but she's a Hispanic woman with glasses and short black hair), who is always friendly, never has a cross thing to say, and is honestly the reason I drive 18 minutes away from my home instead of to the one a mile or so away. She was there last night, but Robert was the CSR taking care of me (large guy, bald spot up top, needs to shave). We were all talking while he was inspecting my watch and everything was light and friendly. Robert lowballed my watch saying I hadn't pawned it in the last year. I told him that was incorrect, and that I had pawned it multiple times, the friendly woman agreed (she'd taken it in herself), and so I said look again, and check for the Nagolitos, San Antonio location, too. He again argued it hadn't been in there, then said (pretty aggressively) "Look around, does this look like Nogalitos EZ Pawn to you? You can take 20 or you can take 0, what's it going to be"? I begrudgingly took the 20, as I only needed gas to make it to Gen McMullen/90 to deliver a box of winter clothes to a couple of guys who'd just lost all of theirs.
I don't know how you train your employees or what you allow them to get away with, but had I said this to a customer, I'd have been fired. He doesn't seem to understand that I'm not at his front door begging for change for drugs, and he wasn't doing me a favor. I went into your business, where he is representing your company as a customer service agent, and walked out of there insulted and sorry that I did. Maybe I'm wrong and he's untouchable?
I've dealt with EZ Pawn, buying/selling/borrowing for 20 years. I have never been talked to like that, by anyone at EZ Pawn. I asked him before all of this if he loved his job and he did not share that enthusiasm, so his behavior afterward absolutely reflected that answer and not the customer service quality people expect when they visit your establishment. I think maybe the seat of power you've given him makes him believe he is somehow superior to the customers he deals with. I don't like to assign motive to shitty behavior but his needs to be corrected. I won't deal with this man anymore and if it weren't for the woman who is so friendly at THIS location, I wouldn't visit any of your locations again.

Update 4/21/25: The woman I mentioned above, her name is Jay. Because of Jay, I'm changing the stars from 1 to 4. Everything I said above is still true, but credit must be recognized and she deserves it.

Read more10/10 Pawn Shop. It was my first time at this place, but I've been to many a pawn shop in my lifetime. This time I went to get a loan and just in general dreading the experience of having to go through the process. This place was totally different. The folks that work in there are kind, they took their time appraising my items for loan. The environment is not like other shops by that I mean the folks in there were just talking to each other and customers and the environment was relaxed. They seem like they enjoy what they do, and are really knowledgeable about the products that they have. I arrived with a gas tank on E just hoping to get a quick loan. I ended up leaving in a much better mood, got to look at the treasures they have up (small shop, but a good variety of things) and even put an acoustic guitar on layaway for when my check hits- thanks to my guy Marcos who talked about instruments with me while helping me with my loan. 10/10 Marcos was the absolute best.
