We go to the taco place next door a lot and decided to give this place a try. Not very busy, with only a few people in the shop. We noticed as we waited that not once were we acknowledged or greeted, extremely rude. One of the girls working there kept going to the back because she was obviously eating as she was still chewing her food as she was serving other customers (health violation #1). I noticed another girl making a mangoneada, cutting fresh mangos to garnish the top. She scooped it with her bare hands onto the dessert (health violation #2) and she had a cut with a band-aid on that very same hand. None of them working there had any hair restraints at all (health violation #3). What really confused me the most was why did everyone not just leave like we did? The service was bad bad the girl made fun because we order an ice cream cone with 3 scoops and she said that was not going to happened no way that it was going to break and make a mess. She laughed and served it in a cup. How ever not even 5 minutes after a young man walked in and she served him a 3 scoops of ice cream and did not even cause a scene or anything. Read moreMy family and I stopped by Helados Arandas and really enjoyed several treats — the lemon/lime Italian ice was super refreshing, the grape raspa hit the spot, and the chocolate ice cream was rich and delicious.
Unfortunately, the mangonada was a bit of a letdown. While I appreciated the chunks of fresh mango, it was overwhelmed by way too much chamoy. The mango Italian ice had melted into the mix, and the chamoy completely masked the mango flavor.
