I've chatted with several #localbusiness owners now and am amazed by how many got their start at open markets. Maria, the owner of Karolina's, has a similar story to tell. Originally from a border town in Mexico, she came to #SanAntonio in 1997 and began selling random items at a flea market. That snowballed into her eventually networking with and selling for over 30 different vendors!

Fast forward to 2007, Maria opened Karolina's as a fully functioning #familybusiness that each of her four children helped to shape. In addition, her now adult children have also developed incredible artistic talents - probably the result of growing up around such a creative aesthetic and #entrepreneurial spirit.

You can find her son Anthony's #artwork throughout the store, including the beautiful mural dedicated to Karolina, his grandmother, who sadly passed away two years ago. I can tell they miss her dearly, particularly at this time of year. Luckily they have adorable family visiting, like Mattie seen behind the counter absolutely poised to take over at a moment's notice! Highly recommend a visit today or anytime...

Looking for Cute collectibles and Fiesta themed items, this place is the spot. Cute Hello Kitty collectibles, sporadic Selena collections to include stickers (must ask for assistance for stickers and they ask for no photos tacken of them), Original Selena magazines (must ask for assistance as it they are locked in a case). Frida Section, Mexican blankets, sashes, shoes, earrings, t shirts. I still have to use Google Maps to locate it but if you know where Chris Madrids is is down the street, next to Cute other shops. Staff super nice, they right away noticed my little selection of Selena items was growing and one if the guys came back to me and said, I thought you might like this and brought out the coolest Selena Purple Great Smelling Freshie!! I love it! The place is so colorful and beautiful. I loved the wooden floors and I took in each section at a time and just took in the whole atmosphere. A definite returning customer for sure!! Awful, aggressive, rude customer service. I've purchased items here in the past and they were cute, however the lack of human decency doesn't make up for the items they sell. They have an odd chip on their shoulder about their parking. They have 3 spots painted that are strictly for them. I arrived midweek in the middle of the day, all 3 designated spots were open. I went to grab an iced coffee nearby prior to shopping in their store but was chased by the male worker that day berating me, even when I explained I was coming to the store momentarily. He then proceeded to try and film me. I will never ever return to this store.
