This will be long, but let me start at the beginning… I arrived in San Diego much much earlier than anticipated having rented a car at Fox and they were unable to provide one that many hours of head. I do understand that. The Fox agent helpfully called the Car Rental Help Center and hooked me up with Alex, who was able both provide a car and come and pick my friend and me up at the Fox counter in San Diego International Airport. So happily we left with a car 5 hours ahead of when we would’ve otherwise been able to pick it up.
I committed the worst error of my life, and I am not an inexperienced traveler. In the Toyota Camry I had rented, I accidentally set the keys along with other things and closed the trunk. Much to my horror there is no way to get back into the trunk AT ALL because the trunk unlock button on the console is disabled if the keys are not in the cab. The long story short is that Alex rescued us!! He did not personally come and bring us the key because he was at the end of his shift, but he set it up so that a young man named Noah would be able to get a key out to us in La Jolla, for crying out loud in a 5 story subterranean parking garage, no less. Eternally gratitude to the both of them and that may also include Jerry Garcia. I have nothing but good things to say about all of them and take good care of this crew. They have been...
Read moreDO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! I prepaid for Fox rental car and they wouldn't accept my paper driver's license issued from my state (nowhere did it say temporary license weren't accepted); Fox sent me over to this company. I paid double what I prepaid, but was happy to have a car for the weekend. I also paid a $300 deposit. The car was on E when I picked it up and it cost me nearly $100 to fill it up. I shouldn't have done that; that's on me. I drove it to my hotel in Ocean Beach and parked right out front in a designated parking spot. I drove the car to Santa Monica and parked at the hotel in a designated parking spot and then drove it again back and to my family's home and then returned the car. Destination to destination with zero other driving. I dropped the car off 2 hours after they closed, with no issues and a half a tank of gas. They called me the next day saying there was a scratch on the car and sent me a video (which could have been taken whenever) and a quote with no dates, car info, etc. for over $1800!!! If I had done something that would have merited this, I would absolutely own it, however, I will not take ownership for something that didn't happen on my watch. This is completely unbelievable! I honestly don't understand why people try to scam others. BE DECENT HUMAN BEINGS! ...
Read moreI rent the car from this small Car Rental company on March 04-14. They charged my credit card $45 for Toll Road in which normally cost not more than $10. I told to the customer service who served me when I returned the car that I passed the toll road ... they said we will notify you when they receive the bill. I was waiting for their call .... they never call instead they just charged my credit card without telling me. I think they just take this dishonest business practices to get more money from customer. They will not get my business again. BE CAREFUL ...... Update: On May 4th I received toll road violation bill. They charged me $45 for paying the toll road plus all bogus administration fees that is very expensive. They did not explain the rental agreement clearly, with purpose to get $45 from customer. It is mentioned "ALL PARKING VIOLATIONS" not the TOLL-ROAD. THIS IS REALLY BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES WITH INTENT .... NO WONDER THIS COMPANY HAS "D" BBB-RATING.
May 6th, The manager called me after spending 30 minutes talking to him, he finally agreed to refund the $45 because in rental agreement says that the search fee of $45 for all parking violation but not toll road. I am glad I can point out their mislead wording in...
