Michael was absolutely incredible, and I can't recommend her enough! I have read so much about the CGM and I was so dang tired of trying to figure out my hair type and its needs on my own. I knew I had some wave, but was never sure what products to use to enhance my waves or how to style it to get them to come alive. I chose her "new client" package and think it's worth every penny. For starters, we sat down and chatted and she truly listened to what I wanted. I had a hunch that my waves weren't going to be full-on curls (much to my chagrin, haha!) and I wanted a versatile haircut to style it wavy or with a blow out. MICHAEL TOTALLY DELIVERED. I loved the dry-cut style already and was so amped to see it be transformed into a wavy vibe. She walked me through each step meticulously but also made me take part in the styling steps, which I personally loved and think is critical if you're trying to understand your hair type and how to properly follow through with various styling methods to get the look you're after... YOU have to do it! Truth be told, I wish I had more curls -- I learned I'm a "swavy" gal and can go between straight and wavy, which is still pretty cool -- but I am still so dang happy with the results we had with Michael's expertise. It was truly the most wavy I've ever seen my hair! Aside from the stellar instruction and demos, Michael was so kind and took the time to check out some products I was currently using to see if they were still worthy of using or not, which I really appreciated since I don't like to waste products! That said, even a few days after getting my hair done, I'm loving what the Innersense line did for it (and it smells divine!), so I'll be ordering those products up next! Lastly, Michael followed up with me and sent me step-by-step directions of what we did (LOVE THIS!), and has been so gracious with her time and expertise in answering remaining questions I've thought of since my appointment. The biggest bummer? I don't live in San Diego permanently, so I either need to travel back to see Michael (seriously considering it!) or hope someone else out there is on her level to where I'm moving. I am so happy that I found Curl Girl Michael. I recently relocated from the East Coast and was dreading having to find someone new for my hair maintenance. I went to trusty Google and found that Curl Girl Michael had some good reviews and decided to take a chance and book it.

Let me tell you: my first cut experience was worth every penny and worth every minute of my time spent in her private, cozy, and inviting private suite at Sola Salons. I have never experienced having a private space for my salon experience and it was game changing - no apprentices washing or styling while my stylist was booked with other clients, no one listening to our conversation or having to overhear other peoples' conversations, no split attention over other duties or clients. That alone was such a positive experience.

Now for the haircut. I've been wearing my hair exclusively natural for about 4 years. Prior to that, I mostly wore it straight, so it was cut to wear straight. I also had a full right side shave, and now am in the midst of a complicated grow-out for the past 2 years. My last stylist on the east coast was great but not only did Curl Girl Michael help even out my very lopsided and uneven lengths and layers that I've been struggling with over the past 2 years, she revived my curls and made them bouncier and shinier than ever before. She took the time to examine and trim individual curls and was meticulous in her approach, which is very much appreciated. She definitely understands the struggles us curly girls go through with our hair texture and she's a curl genius!

I have very curly hair. But somehow, I learned that it's even curlier than I realized! She taught me a few new techniques for product application and showed me how to use a curl bounce brush to achieve maximum coils! GAME CHANGING!

I am so excited about my hair not only looking better - more even (there's still some work to do for my grow out, but we have a plan!), shinier, and bouncier - but I can also feel the difference after the new things she taught me. Already looking forward to my next personalized and private...

Michael is a gem. I have avoided going to a curl specialist for many years because of the pricing. I finally buckled after two horrible hair cuts after chemo in 2022. My curly spirit was broken 😞 but I decided it was time to invest in myself.

I did a 30 minute consult with Michael after obsessing over her TikTok videos. I love how she took her time with her clients but that she was so versatile and cut different curls, and in different styles. During my 30 minute consult she was knowledgeable, asked me questions, LISTENED, and showed me some videos she hadn’t posted yet of EXACTLY what I wanted on two totally different clients. I felt secure.

During my appointment we chatted, I felt so comfortable, Michael was open with me too. I didn’t worry at all about the process, if I did have questions she answered them kindly and easily, didn’t make me feel dumb, and took great care of my curls and my scalp. I actually took a little nap at one point, it was an incredible experience!

My haircut is holding up! It’s been two months and I’m growing my hair out a bit in a shape that makes me feel confident. I’m excited to go back and keep on the plan we devised at my appointment!
