Hobby Lobby — Local services in San Diego

As a teacher, I was really disappointed by my recent experience at Hobby Lobby. When I asked about their teacher discount, I was told they only accept school-issued credit cards as proof of eligibility. This policy essentially means the district receives the discount, not the individual teacher who is personally purchasing materials out of pocket for their classroom.

I came prepared with multiple forms of verification - my district ID, a recent pay stub with my school listed, and even my school email address - all of which should clearly establish that I am a teacher. None of these were considered sufficient. The manager simply reiterated the same policy and even offered to put their supervisor on the phone so I could “hear the same thing” again, which felt dismissive and unnecessary.

It’s frustrating because teachers often spend significant amounts of their own money on classroom supplies. A discount that only applies if we use a district-issued credit card (which most teachers don’t have) doesn’t actually support teachers. It feels misleading to advertise this as a “teacher discount.”

I left feeling undervalued and insulted, and unfortunately, I’ll be rethinking whether I shop here...

Best hobby lobby I ever been to they have the coolest stuff to buy. The staff don't just follow y around right away unless u been in there for over fourth minutes like most stores they follow you right at the door thinking you are going to steal it's sad because if that more and more people are no longer going to stores because of the pour service a rude assumption also the illegal assumption it's caused long time customers to leave as well they volunteer to drive 30 miles to the same store just way farther just because the far one doesn't treat them that way instead of sueing them because that act is again lost prevention laws it's crazy .... So this hobby lobby shocked me and actually made my day being able to go to a close store and not leave angry I got treated with great customer service they were helpful had great deals w@s clean and for sure is a Customer is always right store rating 1-100 it's for sure a 98% only thing needing fix is training new employees a little more about mathematical and coupons and also making sure the discounted prices ring up right other then that it's...

Hobby Lobby has no competitor. Truly the ultimate arts and crafts and home decor shopping store. If you have a crafty side hustle or even want to buy a cool D.I.Y. gift, this is your one-stop shop. I shopped here to create my stay-at-children's (school) set-up.

Why I recommend Hobby Lobb: The store layout is spacious, uncluttered and wheelchairs and carts can navigate easily between aisles. Prices are quite reasonable. Lots of modern and cute home accessories items like, mirrors, pillows, positive signage, and side tables. Want an alternative to t.v. for kiddos, welcome the Hobby is your oyster. You can find hard to find colors in event planning and party accessories. The instrumental store music is heavenly.
